Last night I coughed and had a sharp pain just above my pubic bone, like where your blatter is. When I went to get out of the chair. The pain was very sharp and I could barely move for a few minutes then it passed.  I went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night with sharp pain again. Same spot. I had to pee so I went and did that when I tried to get up The pain was aweful. I tried to make it back to bed but could not lay down due to the pain. Then I started to feel like I was going to pass out and got nausus (sp?) I thought I was going to die. My husband said I was pale and felt my forhead and said I was ice cold.  I made it to the couch and laid there for a few minutes. Wondering what to do. My husband almost called 911. We were both freaking out.  Anyway, I feel OK today!!  I do have a call into the Bariatric Doctor.  My question is I am not sure if this is RNY related or something else.  I am not sure which dr to call. I don't want to go to one dr. then have it be the other.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I am scared it will happen again.  I thought it might be gas but the nausea and passing out are really strange.  Thanks for your input.

You might have passed a kidney stone.  Some people get kidney stones post op from the higher protein diet and not drinking enough water. Ask your doctor about that.  I have never had a kidney stone myself, but my niece had one and she just sort of dropped to the floor and writhed in pain.  It was quite sudden.  Once she passed the stone, it was business as usual. Any kind of intense pain can cause nausea. Kix

I would call your bariatric surgeon - it could be a lot of things.   Constipation or gas can cause some fairly intense pain in your colon actually, and kidney stone or appendix are possible, a pulled muscle from coughing, adhesions, ovaries, hernia, etc.  Its highly possible that it was nothing, a random twinge, but it could be something and since you had surgery so recently I'd definitely talk to your surgeon first.  No, I haven't had anything like that except for a bout of severe constipation that was quite painful in the pelvic region on the left side.

Sounds to me like a kidney stone - my husband has issues with them. Glad to hear you called your DR. Make sure they see you.

I'm glad to hear you called your surgeon!!! Do you have your gallbladder? Sounds like it could either be a kidney stone, but I'd almost lay odds on gallbladder if you still have it. My gallbladder had already been removed pre WLS, but I can remember it made me feel horrible! I couldn't lay down, I couldn't sit up witout severe pain, I wanted to puke, horrible feeling!!!! Let us know how it goes!! Hugs Theresa
