It isn't just a redneck thing.  When I lived in Honolulu, people in trucks would drive up and steal mangoes off the trees in strangers' yards.  I couldn't believe it!  If you tried to chase them away or give them stink eye, they'd just shrug and continue helping themselves until the mangoes were gone.  When I complained to the cops, the cops said I was being selfish and where was my aloha spirit?  I asked them if I felt like helping myself to all the cash at the Bank of Hawaii, would I be allowed to do so in the name of aloha?  Cops gave me stink eye and left. Kix PS:  I tried to get the mango thieves to take the jack fruit, but no one wanted it.

Let alone the "outlawing" of deer out of season...

Yep, I grew up in a rural area too ...

I live in a small town called MALTA, NY. Its about  20 miles north of the capital, Albany and about  7 miles south of the famous Saratoga Thoroughbred Track. I love this part of the country...the Adirondack Mountains are gorgeous. I am truly missing spring...we've had a hard, icy, cold winter. But....every cloud has a silver lining...I can hide under my sweats and then emerge in the warmer weather like a spring flower and show off the new me!  Wooohoooooooooo  HUGS to all.  Jeanine

The Adirondacks are very pretty, especially in the fall. I almost took a job in Albany years ago, but decided to go to Tallahassee instead.  In retrospect, I should have gone to Albany (although I would not have experienced living in the South). Kix

Well I lived in Sarasota FL from 1991-1999 but we moved back, so I've experienced both worlds.  As much as I hate the long end of winter...I do enjoy the change of seasons and especially autumn. Love the fresh apples, pumpkins and colored leaves.  You should come up North & visit some time!  HUGS  Jeanine

Okay I'm from Savannah, ga and that is interesting because of all the history and I LOVE history. Just walking downtown(RIVERSTREET>>YA GOTTA VISIT) is amazing!! In Spring all the flowers are in bloom and the HUGE old Oak Trees with all that creepy spanish moss...gotta love it. However, they tease about the state bird being the mosquito and I think it's the gnat....OMG starting in about March these little buggars will carry you away! AND ya gotta LOVE St. Patty's Day in Savannah it's really worth seeing at least once!! I currently live in Fort Benning Ga which is like two steps away from Alabama and it's pretty nice here. Again with the history and the old homes...I LOVE IT!! The Chattahoochie River...wheww what a stinker!! It's nice to walk down by the river though they have a nice "Riverwalk" here. I like that we can jump in the car and just drive to all the little towns and go antiquing..my all time fav thing to do.  HOWEVER~~~> I was flipping channels the other night and there is a show I think it's called My Big Redneck wedding..or something on CMT and this crazy couple and I do mean crazy were describing how they met and all that jazz. Well then they started showing the bachelorette party, which (I hope your sitting down) was a skeet shooting party apparently and THEN they pushed the truck with the bride in it into some type of swamp and towed her back out with another big truck...and she said (this is the WHOLE point of my story)....THAT"S HOW WE DO IT IN GA>>>>OH NO... On a side note her hubby's bachelor party was a "hog huntin' " (direct quote) party. She said I know ya'll are going on this bachelor thing but I really need them hogs for winter...LMAAAOOOO!! I'm soooo sorry for anyone who loves to hunt but this struck me so funny and I just giggled like a mad woman..I said NO way these people actually exist and LIVE in MY state...YEP so you see Ga has it's fair share of rednecks also.. Hugs to all, Jamie

I went to a conference in Savannah years ago and it is very pretty, reminded me a bit of Charleston. However, I'm not sure exactly which pollen it was that tried to kill me, but I sneezed the entire time I was there.  Next time, I think I'll visit in the winter. Kix

I think you're talking about the pollen from the pine trees...it's a KILLER!! My sister, my father and myself spend the better part of March/April sneezing, grumping and complaining of sinus problems. It's so thick you can see it puddle in the streets...it's really awful. So Spring in Savanah is starting to sound not so great... Pollen up your nose and gnats chewing at every exposed piece of fle****hink I may have forgotten some things about my town.  Hugs, Jamie
