Welcome home!  First couple weeks are the toughest.  Everything tasted weird to me too, but I ate/drank because I was supposed to.  Honestly, I spent every waking minute either sipping water or "eating" my liquid proteins!  At the time, it felt like I was in a time warp, but it does pass pretty quickly.

It probably hurts when you get up because of the incisions in your abdomen; that'll get better with time as well.

I don't think I got hungry until 8-10 months after my surgery; I ate because I was supposed to and because my body needed nutrition and energy.  Just keep following your surgeon's instructions and you'll do fine!

Also, keep walking as much as you can - it seems to help folks feel better and speeds the healing process.

Good luck and welcome home -

Kellie

Glad all went well and you and you're home! Soreness is normal, just take it easy. Sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk as much as possible.

Sometimes I forget how scary it was at first, michelle and I (another wls patient ) were talking about how at first this is this rush of emotions , what did I do to myself? will this work for me? am I ok?  Not knowing if you are eating enough or if your eating to much, its all very hard at first but it does get better and you will start feeling better soon :)   Congrats on your courage! Glad you are home and all went well.  Sorry to hear you are having a rough time....I promise it will get better...hang in there.  What a blessing it is to have the food around you , on TV and seeing others indulge and yet it doesn't bother us like it did before surgery.  I pray this continues...for all of us.  We are all here for you, so let us help. Take care and eat the best you can.  HUGS  Jeanine

Keep drinking water!  Also, don't worry about not wanting to eat, just make sure you do.  Like everyone else said, the first two weeks are the toughest. Kix
