Hey Jeanine,    You mean other than their "whoops, sorry bout that"? nope, when i called to tell them that i had to cancel my appt for wed, they said "oh that's too bad, call us when the infection clears up"... i was so pissed off, i wanted to scream that they gave it to me in the first place....but the poor receptionist didn't cut me, so i managed to keep a hold of my tongue. After my experience with MRSA postop i am really freaked out about infections these days, and i have been so careful about handwashing and taking my vitamins and trying to boost my immune system, but who would of guessed that just a little nick on my lip would cause such a huge mess? ~Lori

You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance. -Lee Iacocca

I can relate.  I used to get cellulitis at the drop of a hat.  One time, I had just come off a cellulitis infection and was "clean" for about ten days when I managed to bump the back of my thigh on the arm of a chair.  I remember thinking, "I probably shouldn't have done that," and the next day, I had another flare-up. It doesn't help that the mouth is one of the quickest portals for infection.  Stupid dentist.  What did the assistant do, shove a too-big piece of dental x-ray in your mouth?  I had that happen once and the back of my mouth was trashed for days.   I can be a real b***h about stuff like this, so I'd complain to the dentist directly, and perhaps to the WA State Dental Association if the dentist is cavalier about your complaint.  With your history of MRSA, they really should be more careful with you, the idiots. Annoyed, Kix

I grew up in Northern California and Utah, so tornadoes and hurricanes were just something I read about in books or saw on the evening news.  Earthquakes?  No problem.  Rain worthy of Noah?  No problem.  Lake effect snows in Utah?  No problem.  My first experience with a hurricane was Hurricane Iwa when I lived in Hawaii, and that was a doozy.  I have not liked fierce winds ever since (and we get some strong winds here in CO, which always make me nervous). We had a pretty quiet weekend.  All of us, including the dogs, got groomed on Saturday, so we are all looking mighty fine around here.  We went for a drive yesterday because the weather was warm (but the skies were not blue, so it wasn't a totally wonderful experience).  We like to drive around different areas and look at houses. I've been addicted to Taco Bell tacos lately, and for some reason, they are helping me lose weight.  Go figure.  It must be the crunch in the tortilla that satisfies my need for crunchy food, and they aren't too terribly fattening (170 calories per taco).  I had to laugh, I bought two tacos at a Taco Bell in Lafayette yesterday (near Boulder, for those of you familiar with CO), and when I bit into it, I darned near burned the roof of my mouth because the taco meat was piping hot!  Who expects to be served hot, freshly prepared food at Taco Bell?  My day is full of errands, plus back to the gym.  I did not go for two days because we were busy doing other things (although I did lots of walking). I love the fact that you describe getting a haircut as being "groomed."  Funny -

I go through Taco Bell phases too - I love the chicken soft tacos and the pintos & cheese.  My roommates, however, would prefer that I never eat this again since the beans have, er, well, certain odiferous after effects...   Congrats on the 2 pound loss!  When you 207 -- and are down 200 from your surgery weight -- I'll be doing the dance of joy for you!!!!  Kellie

We went a bit long between appointments this time, so the four of us (me, sister, two dogs) were all starting to look like yetis, so I thought "groomed" would be an accurate term to describe it. The pintos and cheese cause such terrible side effects for me (if you know anything about the pooping habits of rhinos, you'll get the drift), so I am only allowed to eat crunchy tacos.   I've adopted Loris' suggestion and "thinking thin" rather than grousing about my weight, and it seems to be working so far.  At least it keeps me hopeful!   I look forward to seeing that dance!   Kix

Good morning Marge.  I grew up in tornado alley (at the bottom) so tornadoes don't scare me too too much, but I've been in a few storms where I did seriously wonder if I was going to die.  My husband was in one of those storms with me, and it was his first big west Texas storm (we got caught in the mud with baseball sized hail coming down and a tornado landed about a mile and a half from us) - we were caught out driving when the storm started and the closest shelter we could think of was my aunt's tornado shelter a few miles away, but in trying to get there we got caught in the mud about 4 blocks away, because we couldn't see the road, the visibility was nothing and the roads were flooded out, and I drove right off.  Ironically my aunt and uncle were also stuck a few blocks away coming from another direction.  The hail was so big we would really be risking a head injury walking/running to the shelter and honestly we weren't even sure where we were (might have made a wrong turn) so we stayed in the car and both cried and tried to get a radio signal for a report on the location of the tornado - once we heard it was on the ground and very close by, that didn't help with the panic.  It was at night and we couldn't see the tornado (we'd seen the funnel at sunset though).  We couldn't hear anything but hail, and we just waited until the hail stopped, hoped the car windows didn't break,  and then finally walked to the kennel (aunt's house) in a downpour - only to find it locked and no one home (they arrived a few minutes later to find us hunkered down under their carport.  My husband, years later, is still extremely traumatized and will NOT live in tornado alley EVER.  I'm o****pt alternating from laughing to crying.  It was scary looking the next morning looking at the amount of damage from the tornado, you could see a lot of destroyed structures from our stuck car.  Fun fun. Here's my weight Starting weight - 440 Surgery weight - 405 Last week - 310.6 This week - 308. 6 (-2 lbs) I'm 1 lb from being halfway to goal.
