It's Been Awhile But I'm Back!!

Geez I guess it's been a year or more since my last posting. I can't believe how things have changed around here. I haven't had a chance to check up on my old friends yet but I'm going to plow through the messages and see how everyone is doing... A little tidbit about how I'm doing....haven't reached my 150 goal yet but not exercising like I should. My husband and I hit the gym 6 days a week when he's on cycle break but when he's teaching I'm left to go on my own and well to be honest that is NO fun. I just got a brand new (brand new to me) bike and hopefully I get some riding in. We did 8 miles Wednesday it was so much fun! Also all of my children are playing soccer and we're coaching my daughters team so that's some good exercise and fun also. I am currently at 165 +/- but that's a heckofalot better than 297..wheww. I still have one of my old outfits and pull it out from time to time. It's been nearly 3 yrs since my surgery I can't believe it. My grandparents JUST saw me for the first time since surgery last month and my grandfather actualy cried...I couldn't believe it. He just held onto me it was amazing!! Well I'm going to go and see how your all doing if any of you remember me email and let me know how things are going for ya! Jamie 297/165

Yep, that's me. I started my journey in Hawaii and then moved to Savannah and now we're stationed here at Fort Benning. I think we're finally settled for awhile. I hope so it's so much easier when I'm on a routine. I'm glad to hear all is well with you..can you believe it's been 3 yrs? I know for me it's a mind blower. Sometimes it seems like yesterday and sometimes it's like a lifetime ago.

YES, the 3 years is most definitely mind blowing! it's just flown by. i just had my 3 year followup with my surgeon -- i remember the day of surgery like it was yesterday! i'm down 280 lbs now...had a LBL 2.5 months ago. it really made an amazing difference. i'm 51 years old -- and this is the first time i've ever had a flat stomach!

Hi Jamie -  It has been a long time! Do you love living back in GA after Hawaii? Bet it's great to be near family again.  How cool about your Grandfather! Glad to hear all is well with you and yours! We've missed you.

Yes it does feel good to be back in Ga. For some reason Fort Benning has always seemed like home to me. I guess it's because I'm so close to Savannah. As a matter of fact I have family coming this weekend.... It's so good to see you all and talk to you again. I have to admit I've been feeling very alone lately.

Hi Jamie. I don't know you since I've only been here a little over a year. But I wanted to thank you for sharing that about your grandfather. It brought tears to my eyes. You must have felt so loved. I'm really happy for you. -Julie

HI Julie! Yes it felt very good. I'm constantly amazed at how my family stare at me as if it's the first tie they've ever seen me. He said I just can't get over how beautiful you are and of course my mom (always my supporter and biggest fan) steps in and says she's ALWAYS been beautiful big or small...but I knew what he meant and it didn't hurt my feelings. This is just such a wonderful experience and just like with everything else in life you have to take the good with the bad.  If I read your post correctly you only have 62lbs to go to goal...CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is just incredible it's such a life changing experience isnt it?

Jamie! How funny, I was thinking about you a couple of weeks ago and wondered what you were up to these days.  I'm glad you're posting again, we missed you! Thanks for the nice words about my progress.  These last few pounds are kiling me.  People don't believe me when I tell them the first 300 lbs were a lot easier to lose than these last 30ish, but it's true. You are looking fabulous, and I'm glad life is good there in GA.  I know living in Hawaii was hard (sigh, wish I was there) because island life isn't for everyone.  Sometimes, you just need to see a dogwood or oak tree rather than one more darned palm tree or plumeria! Are you at Benning for good, or will you have to move again? Kix
