Has anyone experienced this?
First off.. Good morning to everyone.... I was wondering if anyone has experienced having a slow weight loss due to losing a good amount pre surgery? I lost 60 pounds just prior to surgery and I am now 10 months out and my post surgery weight loss is approx. 93.5 pounds... Dr. Chapman is ok with the amount but he said I should be 10-25 pounds further along than I am.... I know we all lose at different rates but it seems that my loss is slower and I was wondering if my pre loss could possibly be a factor for the slow loss... I have been following the rules for eating and walking, etc. as much as I possibly can... Hopefully, in the near future, I will be meeting with a dietitian to review and revamp my diet and exercise... Just feeling a little
today...
Hope everyone is having a great day and getting lighter as each day passes....

I have heard and read that a lot of pre-op loss can slow your initial post-op loss. Your body is already adapted to the very low calorie situation so post-op isn't as much as a shock. Plus a portion of your initial post-op loss is usually water, and you already would have had some water loss with the pre-op diet. I don't know if any of this is true but it makes a decent amount of sense. I also don't think it would be as obvious long-term (say 3+ months out) as your rate of loss as a non-dieting post-op starts slowing down a little more too. I'd imagine eventually the rates even out and then its just based on how you naturally lose, how well you follow physician's diet plan and exercise plan, age, sex, etc. All of those factors and many more can affect the rate. But congratulations on losing 150+ lbs!!
