What did you eat today?  Enquiring minds want to know.  I am going to tackle some dishes today, there are about 4 days worth in the kitchen.  This is what happens when I have a committee meeting.  My husband doesn't come to the rescue, but I forgive him (this time).  He's so insanely busy with work and school, I don't know how he's functioning - not well I would say.  This schedule is evil.  EVIL.  We are thinking about buying a second car but can't seem to decide if we should.  It would make life easier but that would be more insurance, taxes, etc - and probably a mechanic bill or 10 because we can't afford anything nice at the moment.

Dishes no longer pile up at my house - we have a rule that if you use it, you wa****  And if we have dinner together, whoever does not cook has to help clean up the kitchen.  It's only taken us 14 years to work out this plan, but so far so good.   I wish you luck coming up with the funds for a second car.  We used to share two cars between three people and it was a hassle.  And it seemed like I was always the one getting dropped of and left without a car, even though I owned one of the cars.  Sign.  Luckily we all have our own cars now and life is much simpler...   Anyway, here's what I've eaten so far, and my plan for the rest of Tuesday -

B - 1 c. 1% milk in my coffee, 1 packet Quaker weight control oatmeal

S #1 - 1 cup lowfat cottage cheese, 4 tbsp. sugar-free preserves, ~1/2 c. blueberries

S #2 - 1 Frigo light string cheese

L - Thai food - ~ 1/3 c. yellow curry w/ chicken & vegetables, ~1/3 c. chicken & vegetables in a spicy red Thai sauce, ~ 1/2 cup Pad-Kee Mao w/ chicken, and ~ 1/2 c. brown rice (estimating amounts since I couldn't really measure)
S #4 - medium banana
S #3 - venti non-fat latte w/ sugar-free vanilla syrup

S #4 - 1 slice whole-wheat bread, 3 slices turkey, 1 slice low-fat cheese

[workout #1 - plan to do 20 minutes on upright bike, 20 minutes on stairmaster, 20-30 minutes on rowing machine]

D - 5 oz. broiled salmon, 20 spears steamed asparagus (leftovers from Monday)

S #5 - 100 calorie Healthy Choice fudge bar

I usually keep up with dishes - wash them as I cook and wash the rest right after but when life gets busy they aren't a priority.  The catbox is the only must-clean item on a daily basis, although I do try to spend some time every day cleaning up.  Husband is ok about it but I have to bug him.  He cleans when he's mad so I have to admit I've provoked him more than a few times in hopes of a mopped floor or something like that.  :)

If you could find a good used car, the insurance shouldn't be too outrageous if you carry the minimum required by your state.  With my new-to-me-mobile (1994 Honda Civic handed down to me from my sister after she bought her Highlander hybrid), I pay $150 every six months for whatever it is Colorado requires in terms of auto insurance.  Tags/taxes weren't bad, either. Lucky for me, my sister takes great car of her cars, so it's in good shape. If you were closer, I'd come over and do the dishes for you.  I'm bored.  I'll be glad when I find a job. Here's what I've eaten so far today: B: 1 EAS protein shake @ 110 calories, 17g protein E: Shoveling snow for two hours -- must have burned 100 calories (I hope) L: big azz salad (shrimp, lettuce, pepper jack cheese) @ 500 calories, 27g protein (Eating the big azz salad has tamed my urge to eat everything in sight, thank goodness). More later! Kix Edited to add the rest of the day's scarfing: E:  aquacise, expended a minimum of 100 calories.  It was a good class tonight after all. S: 1 cup lukewarm Mickey D's decaf coffee (lukewarm!  Who sells lukewarm coffee?)      1 serving of Mickey D's milk, too lazy to look up calories E:  walking to and from caucus location in cold weather, about 1 block downhill and 1 block uphill.  Doubt I burned any calories, my heart rate didn't even go up. D: 2 Atkins protein bars @300 calories, 22g protein S: 1 Instone protein pudding with acidophilus powder, 100 calories, 20g protein       S:  2 oz pepper jack cheese, 220 calories, 15g protein Totals:  1130 calories (probably closer to 1230 with milk) - 200 calories expended = 1030 cals

Yeah, you are probably right about the car if we can find a good used car.  We pay a lot more for insurance than that, but its for both of us and we have to carry full insurance until its paid off.  I think we pay 360 every 6 months.  Its still not outrageous, really.

At my size, shovelling snow burns about 360 calories an hour...so I'd say you're doing smashingly in the exercise department today!

I wish I lived with a neat freak!  I am bad and buy disposable paper cups for my morning milk or CIB, but I have to say paper plates are pretty tempting sometimes too!

OMG, at my house we buy paper plates in bulk at Sam's Club in three different sizes!  I'm ashamed to admit that I eat off paper plates many evenings; I really should care more about what I'm doing to the environment, but by the time I reach the end of the day, sometimes it's all I can do to prepare food, let alone clean up a bunch of dishes.  Ergo my propensity for paper plates and frozen dinners.  I long for the day when I have time and energy to cook every night, and then clean up the kitchen afterwards.  I think that's called retirement and I've got a long way to go before I get there.  Sigh -  Kellie
