It looks like a lot of us over-ate during the super-bowl weekend. Time to get back up in the saddle and move on! Everybody gets thrown sometimes. (Can you tell I'm in Texas?)
I had a heck of a day - my committee meeting was this morning. When I was done I went to lunch with husband and halfway through, my adrenaline crashed and I became seriously one cranky Jenny. I went home and took a nap. (I didn't sleep well last night, it was hot and stuffy but when I turned on the AC I froze and then I had to get up really early to get ready, and settle myself for the meeting).
The meeting is over, I am safe for another 6 months or so. They all rated me as excellent (crazy people, makes me trust their judgement) and gave me high praise for all I accomplished (huh?) All I can say is the rest of the 4th years must have been pretty bad to rate me as excellent because I have been **** poor graduate student for the last 7 months or so.
So, what'd ya eat today? So far nothing much for me. I need to have a proteinaceous dinner and snack for sure.

Ok here's my food plan for today (I gave myself a lot of food for dinner and snacking, I may not get to it all but I didn't eat much so far today so at least today I give myself permission for some late night snacking)

Yep, I was right. I couldn't get all the food in :) I only ate 1 section of quesadilla and I used less meat and cheese than I originally planned, so it was 1/2 of a tortilla, 1/8c meat., and 1/8c cheese. I also skipped the pudding but the orange was delish.
I was very proud of myself yesterday at the Super Bowl Party we went too. Hubby and I talked about it on the way home. I ate very little and what I did was off the cheese tray I took or the veggie tray, ok, I did have 4 of hubbies tortilla chips. No sweets, I'm so proud fo myself!
Today is a beautiful, busy cold day after the rain kinda day with blue skies and puffy white clouds, I love it!

WTG on the healthy choices Jan! I also did fine on Sun, but I didn't have a party to go to, or party foods staring me in the face. That certainly would have made it tougher.
Glad to hear you are doing so well in school Jen...way to go!
I am very new to the board and everyone may be shocked at the way I eat but I figure if I post it and look at it I may want to be more careful in the future.
B Nothing
L BLT minus the crust (been craving this for weeks...tried it last night and vomited but decided to give it a second chance)
D Pepper Steak (thinly sliced flank steak, sweet peppers, onions, tomato), 1/2 c rice
S Probably a 100 cal bag of Kettle corn
I do not keep track of calories because the more time I spend thinking of and tracking food the more I want to eat. I rarely feel hungry now but I still like to eat!

Was the BLT on white bread? Maybe you could try a BLT wrap or something like that, with a whole grain tortilla - fewer calories and some fiber? Use baby spinach instead of lettuce for some iron and other assorted micronutrients? I only ask because bread still makes me sick most of the time if I try it, unless its thoroughly toasted, and that's wheat bread. I wouldn't even go near white bread, there's just nothing of nutritional value in it. If you use mayo there are also reduced fat versions, although I don't think they taste very good.
Hmmm a bacon and spinach wrap sounds good to me now. You are right about tracking calories making you think about food - that happens to me too. I don't get hungry too often, but I still think about food a lot, and sometimes that makes me head hungry for sure. Now I try to focus my food thoughts on healthy alternatives to bad foods and cooking new things (I still love to cook). Sometimes tracking calories is good for me though, when I am deciding what to eat for the rest of the day I'll plug in a few different alternatives and see which fits best into my plan. Everyone works differently, but as long as it works, right?
All the best to you,
Jenn

That's a tough schedule! I am having some trouble adjusting to my husband's schedule (we share a car) and its not that bad in comparison.
He works from 3:30-midnight MTWFS but then he has school from 8am to 3:30 on T/Th so days like today are especially tough because its hard to go to sleep as soon as you get home from work, but then you have to get up at 6 the next morning, so you end up with little sleep. Tuesday is the worst for him because no sleep on top of being busy from 8am to midnight. I don't know how he does it but I'll be glad when he can change his schedule in mid-March. At least on Tuesday I can come home and take a nap.
I feel for you especially with one car. I feel for ya my husband has been working alot of hours too and we are both just wiped out. This morning he drove me to have the scope upper GI (don't know the real name and we rushed home to sleep since we took the day off for it. You amaze me sooooo much how you do everything and the school too. Between the kids the job I feel like I am barely treaded water and I see you having the surgery going through all your changes and dealing with school you are really tought little lady.
