Pants, pants and more pants!!
Each year my surgeon, nutritionist and hospital put on an event called "Pants Over Skyridge" (Skyridge is the hospital name) and Wednesday was the reception launching this special event. What it is is a display of before and after pants from various patients that have had the surgery. There were about 20 displays of the pants with a before and after pic and your story. A great event that I participated in this year!
The displays stay up for about a week and are at the main entrance of the hospital - they say that people are absolutely fascinated with reading them and will spend lots of time pouring over each story. This year one of our local stations did a story on it and highlighted a good friend of mine from my support group. Here's a link to the story and the link to the video is on the left. http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=85525
It was a great night and my surgeon is just an amazing man - he spoke about how inspirational we all are and all of us kept saying "but you saved our lives!" He's so passionate about what he does and has told me over and over again how much he loves his job and the people he works with. He's one of the rare ones who actually has a bedside manner!
Hope you all enjoy the video, it was a great story! I'll post some of my pics this week so you guys can see some of my friends from the group - it's a great group of people.
I saw this on the news last night (we Tivo 9News at 4 PM and they showed the story near the end of the broadcast) and wondered which pants were yours? I told my sister, "I think PJ contributed to this display," so we both looked closely to see if we could find your story.
When they interviewed Tim (am I remembering correctly?), the minute he mentioned he climbs 14ers, I laughed and knew he was one of your buddies! I also figured he was self-pay when they said he was a paramedic in Firestone, which is quite far from Sky Ridge.
What a great thing for Dr. Chae to orchestrate! I don't have any more fat pants, so it's just as well Dr. Brown doesn't do this over at PS/L. He should, though, it's quite a testimony to WLS.

wow you go. I understand Tim. I work at an industrial mine however I am a EMT on site and have to run emergency calls if they arise and I will tell you that my energy level, my ability to climb stairs pick up the gurney and just fit behind the wheel of a ambulance is why I decided to fix this problem and make some changes. GO Tim and of course a big high five to my muse PJ
What a great idea and a neat story! I love the idea of the visual display of pants. I tried to watch the video, but I just got a green screen. I could hear the sound, but couldn't see anything. I will try it on the Mac downstairs to see if I can see anything there.
Congrats PJ on all your sucess, and when I told my dh about your climbs on a 14er, he was impressed!
