an informal "formal" introduction

I have been board hopping here at OH for some time now.so I thought I would introduce myself.  My name is Lisa and I live in Toronto Canada. Please feel free to visit my profile for more specific details.  I just wanted to say that this is the forum for me. And I say this because I have really enjoyed the clever posts, the helpful tips and the fact that you actually respond in thoughtful and supportive ways. So I hope that I too can make a contribution beyond my whiny "when will it happen for me posts"!

PS I am a bit of a foodie (woeful misrepresentation) and am happy to post tasty receipts for pouch friendly fare.  And yes I know there is a forum for that!

starting BMI 60.8+

lost 126 lbs since November 10th and still dropping...Surgery Dec. 10th

Yes, welcome to you both....we are expanding by leaps and bounds (and I'm NOT talking about waistines here! LOL)  There is nothing more supportive than someone else who has experienced WLS surgery and all the pre-surgical hoops that must be jumped thru. Even those awaiting the surgery benefit from knowing there are so many others out there who could be inspired by your courage in making the decision to have WLS.  We have all been there...we understand that food has dominated our lives and how destructive it can be.  Hope we help many along the way!  Jeanine

Welcome Barbara! I hope that we can be an encouragement to you as you go through your surgery, and weight loss.  This is a favorite board to many, because the needs of the over 50 bmi are unique and we are there for the long haul!  Post away - ask questions, jump in the water if fine!

Hi ladies, I'm so glad you both found the BMI over 50 board.  Its a very supportive place and I knew as soon as I found it that it was a good place for me.  I am also a foodie, and I love to cook.  We've had one or two recipe swap type threads - feel free to add more and also if you want to post what you eat in the calorie countdown you could always share recipes there too.  All the best to both of you!

Welcome!  Toronto is one of my favorite cities.   Heck, I like Canada, although I confess I haven't been to the Northwest Territories yet, so perhaps I don't like all of Canada!  I'm always up for tasty, pouch friendly recipes!  I'm not quite a foodie (you'll never find me at Surly Table, also known as Sur Le Table, but I enjoy cooking even if I do get into food ruts). Welcome to our friendly little corner of the internet; we'll leave the light on for you!   I too am a die-hard foodie, even 27 months after surgery.  There's lot of delicious stuff I can eat now and I still really enjoy food.  The first few post-op months were a challenge, but even us foodies still find joy in food after surgery.   Again, welcome, welcome, welcome - I look forward to participating in your journeys -  Kellie

Welcome Lisa!  This is my favorite OH board, and I've found lots of encouragement here, as well as challenging posts that have helped me so very much.  I think that we have all been in the place of why is this happening/when will this happen for me, etc.  It is all part of the process! Welcome, and we would love some great wls friendly pouch fare!  Post away!
