The gym is open! I appear to be fully recovered, and the weather is supposed to be warmer today, so I plan to go back and resume killer treadmill, but not for an entire hour.  I'm also behind on my strength training, so I need to do some of that as well. It's also aquacise night, so I'll be going to aquacise with my sister. I'm stoked because weather dude has promised me temperatures in the low 50s this weekend!  Woohoo! What did you do to move your body today? Kix

Yeah for Kix being fully recovered!!!!  You go kick that treadmill's booty, girl, and get in a bit of strength training.  I always have to do my strength training first, then cardio second.  I tried it the other way and just didn't have the strength/stamina to lift weights after doing cardio.

I'll do another 2-a-day today:  strength training for lower body and core work at lunch time, then 60 minutes of cardio after work.  My fitness center has a winter challenge going on, and a lot of people in my department are participating.  It's a points-based challenged where you get 1 point for every 15 minutes of exercise you do in the gym.  Each team has 3 people and I hooked up with another guy that does 2-a-days sometimes.  So between the two of us, we get a LOT of points; more than most folks...  Anyway, the gym pairs teams up against each other and whichever team has the most points each week wins for that week.  The challenge runs for 7 weeks and whichever team of 3 has won the most games at the end of the challenges wins $20 gift cards to Dick's Sporting Goods.  A lot of work for a shot at $20, but hey, it could happen!!! That's it for me today -  Kellie

Hah!  $20 won't buy squat at Dick's Sporting Goods here.  I swear, the Mafia runs the place, I've never seen such inflated prices in my life.  Well, maybe at Neiman's, but you expect the prices to be inflated at Neiman's.  The challenge sounds fun, though! I did my killer treadmill, but elected to wait until Friday for strength training.  It's easier for me to keep track of which days I need to do my strength work if stick to a MWF schedule. Its unusually cold here, so if shivering counts as exercise I am set for the day!  I didn't post yesterday but I did a ton of walking around campus, and I also took the stairs numerous times (6 flights I think).  When I got home last night I passed out.  Today I will do the bike for at least 30 min, but I don't think I will go to the gym.  Its been very crowded the last couple times and I don't feel like playing that game today.  I woke up cranky and I've already done the salivating/nausea thing twice since I got up.  It seems like it happens in the mornings most often and usually stops when I drink something.  I have yet to understand the ways of Thundercles - he is a rather unpredictable pouch.

I hate that salivating feeling!  When Pouchy was grouchy, I salivated so much I was sure I was morphing into a rabid dog. Six flights of stairs!  You go, girl! Kix

Hi Kix, It is cold, raining and snowing here.  I was to have traded aquafit days with the other morning instructor but she backed out on me.  It is snowing in the Monrovia and Pasadena area -- my husband called me from the freeway to report the weather.  It is 45 degrees, and I will be in the outdoor pool teaching.  Our high temp today is projected to be 49!  I'm stupid to be heading to the pool! So, count me in for 1 hour of intense water aerobics.  All this exercise is doing it's job -- I got my 1 year labs drawn yesterday, and can look them up on the Kaiser website.  My HDL is up to 53 from 28 1 year ago.   Have a great day!

I heard on the radio this morning that the grapevine was all snowed in, but that's not unusual this time of year.  I was surprised to see your post, though.  Snow in Pasadena?!  45 degrees is pretty darned cold for the Southland, BRR!  You couldn't possibly pay me enough to get in anything other than a 95 degree pool when it's 45 degrees outside. When I lived in Los Feliz over by the Greek Theater, I think we had a skiff of snow once.  Nothing too memorable, but we had plenty of flooding from torrential rains.  I was glad I lived higher up on the street, all our rainwater ran past us and flooded the lower streets.  I used to watch all the tree branches float past my house and head down to Los Feliz Blvd. I love Kaiser posting all that stuff online!  I enjoy reading all my labs, I like being able to reference all my doctor visits, I especially like being able to email my PCP when I have a nagging, but nonurgent question.  I always hated calling, those call center people never take down the messages correctly. Congrats on the excellent labs! Kix

Sunny and cold in Oregon. I plan to get to the pool for the first swim since my dental drama on Monday.

When I lived in WA, we never had the "sunny" part, just the cold part.  I swear, in Olympia, it rained every day except July.  I really should have lived in Oregon instead, I'm sure I'd have liked it better. How are your teeth doing?   Kix

Pretty much back to normal now - a week later. I did over eat this weekend. Feeling sorry for myself, I think. Boy, I can't wait until I have a tool that will not let me do such dumb things w/o immediate consequences.
