Lose weight faster?

I know everybody is different. Do you think that people who weigh more tend to lose the weight faster than those who are smaller? I am 360lb, 5'6, 58.1 BMI- and hoping to have the surgery (laproscopic gastric bypass) done in early March.  I am getting married on October 4 (approx. 7 months after surgery). I've been wondering how much I should expect to lose before the wedding.

Yes, in general, the heavier you are the faster you should lose, BUT, you are absolutely right, everyone loses differently.  There is a person who had surgery with my doctor a week after me and was much much much much lighter.  She has consistently lost faster and more than me.  Some people are slow and steady, some people lose a few, stall, then lose a few more.. Men lose faster than women generally because they have more muscle mass.  As for how much you would lose, that is highly individual, and depends on if you lose some pre-op.  I am 5+ months out and have lost 122 total, 87 since surgery.  I expect by seven months out I'll have lost a little more than 100 post-op.  Your numbers could be higher or lower.  It'll make fitting your dress interesting :)  Best of luck on surgery and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Hi, I think it must be true that the more you have to lose, the faster it comes off? but i think then i'll eventually hit that stall and be stuck there forever...  thank goodness it hasn't come yet, because i have a ton more to lose!

Hi!!  My BMI started out at 63.5 (I think).  I had surgery on 8/28/07 and this morning I weighed 262 pounds.  I started out at 358 pounds, so I've lost 96 pounds in 5 months.  My BMI now is around 46, I think.  Good Luck and Congratulations on the wedding!!
