What's On Your IPod?
Now that I'm doing killer treadmill instead of loping along every day, I need to change up the tunes on my IPod.
My niece referred me to the section on the IPod site that lists tunes to use when working out, but I have to confess that I'm not really into technobeat stuff (or sea shanties, but that's another story).
I'm curious to know if you use an IPod when you exercise, and if so, what tunes are you using to help get through the workouts?

I have quite a mix of songs that get me motivated and keep me going. If I'm working out at home, I like to warm up with Jimmy Buffett, and then kick it up a notch with Christina Aguilera's 'Fighter' and "Dirrty". Some other good ones for me are Oldies. I espcially use these during my water aerobic classes - granted most of my class consists of older people - but it helps if you can sing along or know it to keep the beat. Good choices I've found are anything by The Beach Boys, Bad Bad Leroy Brown, Love Shack, Taking Care of Business, YMCA, etc. Try going to Walmart or whatever and picking up a mix CD of dance hits or something that hits your hot button.
Good luck! :)

I listen to a variety of things while I'm working out. Here's a few of my favorite songs/artists:
Crazy - Gnarls Barkley
Almost anything by Pink
Black Horse & Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall
Some of the Dixie Chicks stuff
Blues Travelers - like it when I'm on the rowing machine
Guns & Roses - various tracks from Appetite for Destruction
Various tracks by John Mayer
I don't care for techno or club music, which is often playing in the overhead system at my gym. When I started looking for workout music, I looked for things that were at certain tempos, as I tend to workout in time with the music. As my workouts have gotten harder, I've gone to faster music.
When I have more time, I'll look through my most played list and see what else pops up -

Talking Heads, lots of Talking Heads. There are a lot of medium to fast-paced songs with great beats - we have the boxed set and put everything on the IPOD.
David Byrne by himself is also very good, but often slower.

I also like some punk for workouts - mainly Green Day and The Clash.

Ok last ones - barenaked ladies have some fun stuff and ben folds five whatever and ever amen has some fun upbeat stuff - I also like the album mink car by they might be giants for working out sometimes
Umm.. I could go on and on... but that's a start
I'm with you, I hate the techno stuff. Reminds me too much of my years of aerobics in the 80's and 90's. Remember the tights, big hair and leg warmers? So very sad to think back on those fashions.
I have a compilation of alternative music I use for my running, but it's mostly the Foo Fighters - fun, upbeat and a great tempo. Also the Red Hot Chili Peppers work for me. I actually went to 93.3 on line (my fav station here) and listened for a few days and took songs from that (they list the songs on the site as they are playing). After some tweaking I have the perfect mix of songs for all my speeds.
