Stall and the scale?
Okay so I had my surgery on Oct 23, 07
and I have hit a major Stall 2 weeks and put a few pound on
I am weighing in at 315.4
I started this journey at 400.5 pre-op
Surgery was 363.0 so 37 pound loss before surgery
now I am 315 so I am down only 48 pounds since oct 23, 07
Qwestion and i know you here this all the time but IS THIS NORMAL?
I kinda feel binded not sure what to take for that, (THE WHEAT BRAN IS NOT WORKING)
Kinda also feel like I am retaining water, I have been on m period for about 10 days which is not abnormal for me but I keep telling my self the weight will strt droping off again, but when?
I try to stay a very possitive person but can you help with any of this? Thanks so much Kristy
PS Happy New Year
Pss I bought a new scale thinking the other might have some issues but it was just meaner it said I was 2 pounds heavier then my other!

Stalls are totally normal, and even gaining a few lbs back during a stall is normal. They suck, and sometimes they are long, but you will have to accept it for what it is. Your body is taking a break from all that hard work.
Also, you may lose inches during a stall, so that can help keep you from going crazy. A loss of 50lbs since the end of October is fantastic, don't worry. You are doing great and will continue to.
Some people suggest only weighing once a week and if you are bad about weighing I'd recommend that. I personally decided to weigh every morning, but I only really pay attention to how much I lost each week when I report in on Mondays here.
My first stall was 1 month out - I'd lost 33 lbs since surgery. 4 weeks later I'd still only lost 33 lbs since surgery. It seemed very unfair, but I started losing again and I just went through a second (2 week) stall in December.
You're doing just fine; none of us lose weigh every day, so just try to focus on the long term. Definitely normal progress.
Regarding the wheat bran not helping, can you try a different high-fiber cereal? I have good luck with Kellogg's Allbran Buds (1/3 cup is a serving, has 70 calories, and 13 grams of fiber!). I eat it with milk or with some light yogurt. Of course, I also take 3 stool softener tablets every day with my iron tablet, and a full dose of Miralax every evening. Otherwise things don't move along, if you get my meaning... Anyway, that's a long way of say keep trying things to get yourself regular until you find a routine that works for you.
Finally, regarding your period, it will be wacky for 6-12 months. We store estrogen in our fat tissue, so as you lose weight, that extra estrogen is released into your system. So you may have longer periods and/or more frequent periods. You may also have more emotional ups and downs related to the release of hormones into your system. That evens out as your weight loss slows down and your periods should go back to normal as well. I know you have other "female" issues, so your experience may be different than mine, but I think the extra estrogen thing will still hold true.
One of the things I did for the first 6-8 months was to think about my weight in 4-6 week increments. Although I weighed myself every day, what I focused on how was I was doing over a 4-6 week period. As long as my weight was trending downward every 4-6 weeks, I told myself I was doing fine!
Keep your chin up, girlfriend, you are doing just fine!!!

You are doing great. Do not let the scale rule your mood. I say that knowing that I flipped at my stall too. It seems crazy that we go from eating so much to so little how can the weight not just slide off. But like everyone says, your body needs a break. During my 3rd month I only lost 6 pounds. Then in month 4 it picked back up and I lost 14. It will be the same with you as well.
Before you know it, you'll be past the stall. And aunt flo has her own ideas of what to do to your body when she is around, so hang in there.
Stalls are normal, I didn't know about them either
and when I hit my first one, all I could do was think I had done something wrong. Your total weight loss is extremely well, and I know you feel better, so let that be your gage, instead of the scales. The weight will come off, know and believe that.

I'm in my second stall and it's SO frustrating. My surgery was about 2 months earlier than you and I'm only 63 lbs down, so I'd say you're doing GREAT!!
I know that my inches are shrinking because my shirts are getting too big on me and my skirt keeps slipping down, but I'm ready for the scale to move again -- please??
Keep up the good work and the weight WILL eventually go down further!

ONLY 48 lbs????????? Are you kidding? On a "traditional" diet...how long would it have taken you to lose 48 lbs??? You are doing better than you think in just a little over 2 months! My doctor told me to use "Benefiber" for constipation. It can be bought in any drugstore or Walmart. Its tasteless so you can mix it in water, juice, etc. Its good stuff...try it. I only needed it for 2 weeks post-op. Another reason for the constipation they tell me is not getting your water. Hope it resolves itself. Sorry about the stall...it won't last long. Hang in there!
