I think I will use this as my blog... if that's okay.... to be more accountable.... Okay I had my night of Chinese food and icecream last night... I am done... I can't wait to start to feel better... I just found out a different hospital is getting a 5% raise and just over a year ago they got an 8%... Umm last year we got 1.5% and this year we might get 3.4%... Ugghhh my weight is stopping me from moving to get a better RN job that I might actually like... This is going to be hard but I can do it.. One shake down this morning and now I must start my water.. and take down the christmas decorations.. And clean my house... Wish me luck...

Keep up the good work AmyRn, we all get off track at times but you just have to keep at it. Have a good afternoon. I have to go take a nap so I can work tonight. I work 3rd shift. Cindy

The first few days are the most challenging.  Keep water on hand, or crystal light, or something along those lines.  I also chewed gym, just to give my mouth something to do!  And we all had various set-backs or hurdles to overcome; just accept them when they come, work through them, and continue on the new, healthy path you have chosen!!! Keep us posted on how you're doing!!! Kellie

Amy. Happy and Healthy New Year to you.   I wish you much luck with your eating plan.  I know when I want to get in touch with my pouch I do the modified 5 day pouch test and it really works for me.   Keep us posted.  Congrats on the raise, a little extra in the paycheck always helps. Jeanne

When the going gets rough, and all the food starts waving at you, remember your goal!  Drink lots and lots of fluids. I did Optifast prior to surgery, and I found that mixing it in a blender with a few ice cubes gave it more volume, so I felt like I was getting more "food" even though I really wasn't. Every nurse I know makes a good living.  It sounds like you work for a cheap hospital.  Think about how good it will be to tell them "PFFFT!" when you move on to a more worthy position. Amy, don't let your weight hold you back. Good nurses are like gold and come in all shapes and sizes. It would not be a deciding factor in getting hire at the heath system where I work. Go for it girl. Don't wait!!!

If you are just starting...the first  few days might be rough, but believe me it does get easier. This is the absolute best prep for surgery and afterwards.  I wish you lots of luck and feel free to vent here if you encounter questions or problems.  Jeanine
