Low Blood sugars

I have been noticing that after eating about 2 hours later I start feeling so shaky well this morning I took my blood sugar and it was 60. I use to have low blood sugars years a go but this is new to me. It really does not matter what I eat for a meal either. So this morning I ate an orange and it went back up to 169 right after 10 minutes of eating it. Just wondered if anyone else had this problem ??? I hate low blood sugars !!!

I've been having the problem for about 8 months -I have talked to many post-ops who have the same problem so it seems to be fairly common. I've used different things to help me control it but I primarily eat every 2-3 hours, no matter if I am hungry or not. At first I tried to wait it out but I just felt horrible all the time so I decided to plan ahead and eat small meals all day. There are times when it just creeps up on me pretty quickly so I always keep food or diabetic pills with me at all times.  You just have to plan your day and make sure you always have food with you. I also keep candy with me for the hard core moments when my sugar needs a quick fix, but I don't dump so I can do that. I know that this is a fairly new thing that is coming up for post-ops so I'm not sure if it is a lifelong issue or just a short term one. I'm hoping that some day I won't have the problem anymore - it can be a major pain when i am doing long hikes! Good luck, hope this helps a little bit

it happens to me occassionally, too. generally, if i eat something really carb-laden -- like 1/2 bagel brought it on once. it's nasty! makes sweat just pour off me! i'm avoiding the type of foods that i believe trigger the episodes for me...and keeping some hard candy on hand for unexpected situations. deb
