My neighbor might be evil and other grumbles

Oy, I am irritated and I probably shouldn't be.  She probably just does not listen.  My neighbors are an old couple and the lady is kind of weird.  She has decorated her side, our side, the stairs, the trees out front and the DUMPSTER for Christmas.  She has Christmas music playing outside all the time.  She has army/navy caps, planes, and space shuttles handing from a tree outside with a sign that says we support the troops, and a crucifix.  Anyway, that's off the subject, except to say she is Christmas crazy.  She has been keeping her door open and corners me whenever I am walking in to the apartment - invites me over and tries to feed me candy and alcohol and fizzy things.  I've told her I had surgery and candy and fizzy things make me sick, and I don't drink.  This does not stop her.  Today as I was bringing in groceries she stopped me with FOUR DOZEN chocolate chip cookies and 2 boxes of chocolate.  I know this is nice, and I should appreciate it, but I don't WANT that much sugar in my house calling to me and I already told her I can't have it.  Then she tried to invite me in for champagne punch or jack and coke.  Umm fizzy.  Ummm alcohol.  Seriously this is the fourth time I've told her.  So I am going to save maybe 2 cookies for me, and make my husband take the rest to work and the chocolate too.  Grrr.  And double gripe - ANOTHER kitten is on our doorstep.  Is there some kind of kitty gossip chain that sends out newsletters about how the people in apt 1005 are suckers?  I am trying my best to ignore it, but it follows me when I go outside.  It should go in to the neighbor's house and have some champagne and cookies.  My cat is talking to it through the patio door, little stupid meows and clicks that mean "just work on her, she'll break down, and we get lots of great food in here..."  Once again, anyone need a kitten or know someone who wants a kitten?  I'm probably going to have to find it a home.  On an unrelated note - We met PJ last night and she is indeed as nice and cool as she seems.  It was lots of fun :)

Jenn, I am sorry, I don't mean to but I am ROFLMAO. It is just the way you put things that is doing it to me.  That poor neighbor is just so lonely. How awful. I think you may have hit onto something however that is a sort of solution. Why don't you take the kitten and put a bow around it neck with a starter pack of food and kitty litter and say it is a present for all the goodies she is trying to give to you. It might be just what she needs to fill up the empty places in her life. Hugs Jenn you kind hearted person you.

Dunny is a hilarious writer, isn't she? I think being able to see the humor in situations like this helps diffuse the stress.

You neighbor probably is lonely, and maybe also suffering some cognitive impairment so that she forgets you can't have these things that she finds so delightful. Before we moved my mom into assisted living, she could very well be the neighbor that you are describing.

I think that the kitten idea is a good one.

Old people latch on to me, always have.  My mom is the same way.  I don't exactly dislike them, some old people tell awesome stories and are lots of fun.  Others try to top your medical problems with their own, make lots of racist comments, and complain about how their children never call.  Well maybe they are tired of hearing about your medical problems and have hispanic, japanese, indian, or jewish friends so they don't want to hear your crap.   Whatever.  The weirdest thing about this lady (and that's saying something!) is that she and her husband are both diabetic and in renal failure.  What is she doing with gallons of alcohol and sugar in her house in the first place??   I tried to get her to take the other kitten that we brought in a few months ago, but she didn't want it.  I'm hoping the little girl upstairs, who chases our cats and has been petting this kitten (he's pretty old, about 6 mos and someone is feeding him because he looks pretty good and is totally nice) - I'm hoping she'll talk her parents in to letting her keep it.  I am trying to just play hermit - betweanen the old lady and the kitten I'm afraid to go outside.  \\
