Awesome news about your ablation Marge!  I hope you continue to feel much better.  We finished our Christmas shopping Saturday..OMG the crowds and traffic was wicked!! Ya just gotta have patience this time of year!   Congrats to all!  We had to fight our way thru a snow, sleet & freezing rain storm to take the Grandspecials to Disney Nemo on Ice. The *******s at the Center refused to give any kind of credit or refund and I had $136 tied up in tickets! We took the 4 wheel drive and made it there and back oK. Enough snow already!!!  LOL  See what happens when ya wish for a white Christmas!  I did OK on the scale. I am looking forward to progressing to some different foods...I am starting to get bored. Everyone at the show yesterday pigged out on hot dogs & soft pretzels & french fries. Jeanine had a ice pack in her purse with a small yogurt & cottage cheese. I didn't even envy the JUNK they all ate!   Everyone *****plied has done a terrific job this week on the scale. Starting Weight:  284 Surgery Weight: 252 Last Week's Weight:  232 Today's Weight: 227.8

Well, if it helps anyone out there struggling with holiday food...here is what I am doing. Sat. is Christmas with my 82 yo parents and siblings. They are all having Lasagna, salad & Italian bread. I am making my own pastaless lasagna (lol). I put a layer of ricotta in the bottom of the dish. add chopped turkey meatballs, a little marinara, top with some mozzarella & bake.  Its very yummy! I can't have salad or bread so I'll ignore that. I made some Christmas sugar cookies with Splenda & cream cheese SF frosting. I will have one of those for dessert. Focus will be on the family and our gift exchange...NOT food (for once)  Christmas Day with my children & Grandspecials I wanted to have roast beef (tradition) and I will but I will also roast a small turkey breast for me & one other who doesn't eat red meat. I will have some mashed potatoes and veggies like everyone else. I even bought myself  some SF candy (without sugar alcohol) in case I feel deprived or in the mood for a sweet. It can be done if one is in the right mind set.  A couple of days out of the year is not worth ruining the good efforts of the remaining 363 days...RIGHT????   HUGS to all.   Jeanine

Marge, I'm glad the ablation went so well. I hope your problems are solved now. Not having Aunt Flo is a blessing. I hope this does it for you. I'm struggling with uncomfortable bloating and lack of weight loss, with bouncing around of the numbers on the scale. This is the first time this has happened, (the number jumping and stall) and it frightens me more than it probably should because I have never been able to go more than three months on a diet without gaining everything back. I spoke to my new NUT Friday night, and she explained to me that what is going on is due to things she changed in my diet. Since I am a diabetic off meds since surgery, I guess the insulin has to figure out how to handle the carbs again. But still, it rots big time and I feel like I gained all 100 pounds back. I also need to admit that this is a very difficult time of year for me, being single and estranged from an abusive family. I am so very grateful to have given away my old comfort source of overeating, which makes things so much worse. But I had hoped to hit twoterville by New Years Day, and now it looks like it won't happen. Bummer Big Time. Enough whining. Here's the facts: Pre-op: 414 Surgery: 373 Last week: 308 This week: 307 Here's to a lot of peeing in the near future, Julie

Julie - it might still happen!  New Years is still a little ways away!  Sorry you are feeling bad and bloated and icky.  The holidays are kind of a bittersweet time for my husband too, he's estranged from half his family and might prefer to be estranged from the other half also!  (I wouldn't mind...) The holidays are strange.  So many people are very happy, but so many more are just plastering on a happy face.  And then some aren't even doing that .  I hope your system gets settled out soon, and just remember you are feeling weird physically because YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE DIABETES MEDS ANYMORE!  Woohoo!  Also, prepare yourself, you might be in a stall and they are mentally horrible.  All the best! You are such a sweetheart for reminding me it could still happen. That had not even crossed my mind. Besides, there really isn't anything I can do about it anyway. For the first time in my life I know I am eating right and not abusing myself. I just need to stop the old thought patterns that go there automatically. Easier said than done. Thanks, Jenn -Julie

Glad to hear all is well with your girl parts, Marge!  I had a nice birthday weekend.  Received several hunks of cash from family members, which, when lumped into an even bigger hunk, will cover the cost of four new tires for my car.  My nieces aren't amused that I'm using my birthday money for tires, but I'm happy it doesn't have to come out of my meager monthly budget.  An extra hunk came in the form of a scratcher ticket my sister bought me as a birthday treat, it was a $100 winner!  Woohoo! We went to the Governor's Mansion on Saturday to admire the Christmas decorations.  What we didn't know is that they let people in the building in small groups, so we had to wait outside in the very, very cold weather.  My stupid sister didn't wear a coat (she never does, she's used to going from toasty car to toasty building), so she nearly froze herself silly waiting in line.  I was quite warm in my Lands End jacket.   The Governor's Mansion is lovely.  Out of all the Governors' Mansions I have toured in my life, this one felt more like a home and not so much like a mansion or museum.   We went out to eat at the Rocky Mountain Diner, which has outstanding buffalo chili and even more outstanding buffalo meatloaf.  I ordered both, and ended up bringing half of the meatloaf home to eat later. On Sunday, we went to "Stories on Stage", where actors read Christmas-themed short stories.  The place was packed, what with the Nutcracker and White Christmas also playing that day at the Performing Arts Complex.  I enjoyed myself immensely, although the actress reading the Truman Capote Christmas short story was a bit weak.  We left there and were starving, so it was back to the Rocky Mountain Diner for more buffalo chili and more meatloaf.  Yum!  We also drove around and admired the Christmas lights downtown. With all this eating out, is it any wonder I'm two pounds fatter today?  I had to attend my monthly WLS support group tonight, and one of my classmates was ******g and moaning about how she doesn't want to lose any more weight because she's too skinny already.  *****  Beginning weight: 530 lb Surgery weight: 407 lb Last week: 219 lb This week: 221 lb Kix
