Gym is Open (Friday 12/7)
Sorry I'm opening the gym late this morning, I was all caught up listening to stories on the radio about Pearl Harbor Day.
I didn't do very much walking yesterday, for some reason, my knees were very sore. I had planned to walk at the park near the Golden Library -- the park has a beautiful creek that I wanted to walk by.
I only did about .25 mile when I had to turn around and go back to the car.
Today's plan is to walk, a full mile today at least and maybe more depending on my mood. No rec center until next week.
What did you do to move your body today?

I haven't done much formal exercise this week, but I have walked a lot - at school especially. I get up every hour and walk for 10 minutes - it keeps me awake. We still haven't gone to add me to the gym - I'm somewhat peeved about this but hopefully Sunday. My husband's work hours just do no correspond to the gym's business office hours.
I've been losing inches this week, I can really see them and its so weird! Its like my body has a mind of its own. I also started bariatric advantage and I am already feeling a little perkier. It was a tough week here, we fought pretty much the whole week and that just isn't good for anything. *sigh*
This is the last day of school, woohoo! I should get a lot of exercise this coming week because I have to clean the apartment really well - we are having a party next Sat! (and yes, you are ALL invited!) I will shampoo the carpets, since I am cleared for pushing and pulling and lifting now. We have a couple of episodes of cat puke - I think they just puke for fun sometimes..
I'll also finally put up our Christmas decorations, and try to be holly and/or jolly as much as possible. Hope everyone has a good weekend and exercises more than I have been!
Well, next Saturday is my birthday, so perhaps I'll just hop on a plane and show up to your shindig!
I think SWA has cheap fares (although they aren't as cheap as they used to be). I don't even care if you shampoo the carpet! How's that for an accommodating guest?
(Actually, I believe we are attending a play next Saturday, but I'm sure I'd have more fun at your place).
Even though you don't think walking is much exercise, it is. The Bariatric Advantage vitamins are excellent, even if they cost half an arm. I'm on the auto refill program, which helps with the shipping costs.

I did the auto-refill also - I'm getting their multivitamin capsules and their calcium. I like the iron I take right now - theirs just tastes awful to me - I had a metal aftertaste for hours after a sample.
It is pricey but its not that much more than buying vitamins at the store, especially when they keep adding more and more supplements to my list (oy!) - I'm hoping a higher quality vitamin will improve my blood work so I don't have to do a B complex every day. I noticed the multi doesn't contain iron or calcium, do you take those separately?
They are cheaper than vista vitamins, which I also looked at. Those came out to like $70 for a two month supply! Ouch!
Hi, Kix - you're slowly but surely getting back in the groove. It takes a while to get back up to speed after you've been sick. Your body is still using energy to heal itself. But all things in due time...
As for my exercise, I lifted weights for upper and lower body at lunch today. I'm planning to go back for cardio after work, but we'll see whether that happens. It's hard to go to the gym after work when it's cold and already dark; add the fact that it's Friday and, well, the motivation is running in negative numbers... But we'll see - my workout buddy seems pretty intent on going, so I might make it in spite of myself!
Hope you had a good walk today, Kix, and that your knees are feeling better -
Kellie
Hi, Kellie:
My knees didn't hurt too much today. I did my mile walk at the mall, plus some walking at Costco.
I miss my weight machines, so I hope to get back to the rec center next week. My favorite is the ab cruncher. I also miss my in-line skating machine, it really helps strengthen the knee muscles and quads.
I hate that it gets dark so early. I don't like the cold, either. It was around 40 degrees when we left the house around 11 AM and by 3 PM, I think the temperature had plummeted to the high 20s. BRR. It's going to be in the 20s all weekend, but at least all the snow is falling at the ski resorts and leaving us pretty much untouched. Works for me!
When I lived in WA state, it got dark at 3:30 PM in the winter. UGH! Of course, in the summer, the sun stayed out until 9:30 PM, so that was nice.

We ran a bunch of errands today, and I dragged my sister to the mall where I do my mile walk.
We went in the mall, and the first thing she sees is a Hallmark store. "Let's go in here!" I told her she could go in and I'd meet her at my halfway point (where I stop to buy a bottle of water and let my heart rate drop briefly).
She arrived at my halfway point, and we commenced walking. Of course, she saw another store she wanted to go in. I finally told her I'd meet her back at Target (where I start my walk).
I did get in my mile, but between my sister and the folks shopping (lolling ever so slowly), I just about lost my mind in the process!
