I HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR RECONSTRUCTIVE PANNI

Hello and happy holidays to my OH family, I received a letter from my insurance company on Friday that I have been approved for a panni.  I put my PCP's office through h$!! and really didn't have to because the letter I wrote did the trick.  I am hoping to schedule in late January.  This is my second panni and probably not my last as I still have 100 lbs. to get to my goal but because I have such crippling arthritis in my knees walking, let alone excercise is very painful.   I wanted to get knees first, but my GB surgeon pointed out that with my lymphedma and reoccuring cellulitus in my leg that new knees might cause a major infection and then I would lose the knees completely.  By removing my panni and reconstructing my mons there is a good chance that my lymph system will improve.  This surgery will also take me about 50 lbs. from my goal and only 25 from the surgeons. I am so excited, even though I still will have pain when I walk I am another step closer to the goals that I have set. Happiest holidays to you all.   Jeanne  Christmas Lights Seasons Greetings

What a blessing - I'm so happy for you!  It would be fantastic if removing the pannus can improve the functioning of your lymph system!  Sounds like it would make future surgeries less risky, and perhaps new knees would also be in your future.  Great news all around -  Kellie

Thanks, Pam.

The hard work that I will have to endure during rehab is a walk in the park compared the pain that I have now.  Thanks for your kind words.

Yay Jeanne!  I'm so happy for you!  I'm sure this will help so much, and I'm terribly  sorry for all the pain you endure each day.  Tell them to take good care of you and treat you like a queen, because you deserve it!

Excellent news about the panni. I totally understand about the pain issues - I only recently have been realiziing how much pain I have been in. I totally understand wanting to be rid of it.

I've also had 2 bouts of cellulitis in the same spot, so I know how THAT sucks. That's great news that the panni & mons lift may help your lymphedema. You don't want to risk any more cellulitis.

Best wishes and keep us posted!

Jeanne, woohoo!  Just woohoo!   I know how much your knees hurt (based on my own experience), but the panni is far more important.  It's pinching your lymphatics.  Think about how relieved your lymph system will be when that panni is gone!  Think about how relieved you will be when that panni is gone! Is your doctor hopeful that your mons can be lifted well?  My PS said even though he can lift the mons slightly, it will still be prominent.   I'm very excited for you!  Do you have a surgery date yet?
