I'm just repeating everyone by saying this, but of all people I know who could do this you are top of the list! Like you said, you can do anything you put your mind too and I KNOW you can lose this weight. Despite that news at least you know you can get it done, just have to put in a little extra work. How about you and I spend the summer hiking and work off that 40 pounds together??

How much skin does he anticipate taking off?  Are there ever exceptions made when what weight a person carries is skin, not fat.?   My BMI went down 2 points with my lower body lift.  It is now something like 30.6. I don't think BMI charts discriminate, it is a matter of percentages.  I am a shorty too. A BMI of under 30 put us in the overweight instead of obese category.  I sure don't feel obese now.  Good Luck, Loris

I don't think the BMI chart exactly discriminates, but at 5' I know the BMI chart hasn't done me any favors.  I am supposed to be something like 112 lbs?  If I reach my goal of 175 I'll still be obese.

I think the BMI charts discriminates alot! it dosnt account for many factors...everyone is not the same. They need a real woman's or man's bmi chart :)

Gee maybe the impression I have here in Maine is wrong. I thought that I have heard that if it is medically needed it is paid for. And many doctors can help show that it is medically needed. Could you check another doctor??????
