New Here
My name is Lisa and Im 40yrs old. Gosh, where to start. Ive been on OH for a couple of yrs. I had tried to get WLS back, but it didnt work out.
Now, Im back in the running so to speak.
Ive seen a surgeon and he ways he will do my sugery, provided that I lose some weight.
My BMI is at about 74 right now.
He put me on a medically supervsed diet called Nutrimed - its not totally liquids/shakes..there are puddings, soups, and bars.
Ive been on this for 7 days now and have lost 15 lbs which is amazing. I wish I could lose that amt every week lol
So, Im working really hard to lose down below 70..he ideally would like to have my weight at about 350 or so..which would bring my BMI to like 67..so, thats what Im aiming for. Im hoping to get the surgery by Valentines day....thats my own persona goal..my doctor didnt give me a timeline..just have to work it out on my own.
I have to see a dietician soon and will be on a 1200 cal/day diet after my 3wk liquid diet is over. I will be so glad when that comes...it will be much easier than what Im consuming now.
Wow, sorry this is so long..
I will be getting the Gastric Sleeve done..unless my doctor changes his mind. That was his recommendation and after some research, I think its a good idea.
anyway.... Hi to all

Hi Lisa,
Welcome to BMI over 50. I had to lose some weight before surgery too (at least 40 lbs) and it was tough sometimes but definitely worth it.
I was wondering, why did you decide on gastric sleeve? That is one surgery I am less familiar with, except as part of a duodenal switch.
My diet was about 1200 calories also - 2 shakes and a small meat and veggie dinner. For several months. I still can't look at those shakes (its been 4 months since my surgery). Blech.
I wish you the best on getting prepared for surgery and all that comes with it. We have weekly weigh-ins and daily exercise logs if you are interested in joining in (some people do and some don't - I love it! The people on this board are my OH family *aww*)
Take care!
Jenn
For the amount of weight I need to lose, my doctor felt the Sleeve would do well for me. I had been looking at the Band. If I need the DS later on, I can get it easier with the Sleeve...but Im hoping the SLeeve will be enough for me to lose the weight.
Im just so eager to get it.
yeh, i dont like the shakes either. Im eating the puddings and bars..they are better
Welcome to one of the friendliest forums at OH! The BMI over 50 group is one of the most supportive groups around :-)
Congrats on having the courage to make a decision and move forward. Stick with the Nutrimed diet; although it will be a challenge in the short-term, it will be well worth it in the long run. Your surgeon wants you to lose weight to lower the risks when you have surgery. Losing weight will help shrink your liver, which makes it easier to move things around when he's doing your surgery.
I don't know much about the gastric sleeve, but I suspect there's a separate forum for that procedure if you have specific questions or concerns.
Welcome aboard!
Kellie
