After 2 years and 25 days, I am no longer "obese"!  My BMI is 29.9 and I'm officially "overweight."  I've hit several milestones in the past couple months: *  made it to onederland *  lost half my body weight *  lost over 200 pounds *  "overweight" and not "obese"   What an amazing journey this continues to be - thanks to my OH buds for your continuing support.  I would not be where I am today without you, and for that I am truly, deeply grateful. Thanks, Marge!  I don't put too much stock in the "normal," "overweight," "obese," or "super obese" labelling, for the most part, but it does still feel nice to have a measure about how far I've come.  I do not think I'll ever be "normal," in part because I lift weights and have more skeletal muscle than most, so my body is more "dense" than most folks.  I'm fine with that though - I'm feeling good about how I look and how I feel, and my health is great.  Those are the things that matter more to me than being someone else's definition of "normal."

Congrats! Despite it being the dreaded BMI, it still seems to matter, doesn't it? You have done an amazing job and should be so proud of yourself - I know I am proud of you!! Love ya, Pam

Yeah, I try not to let it matter too much, but I'll take the boost from having a BMI under 30 for the first time in at least 15 years!   I have a hard time being proud of myself - some weird mental thing that if I become prideful about my weight loss that the universe will slap me down.  Not sure exactly what that's about, but will spend some time thinking on that and hopefully sort it out.  Probably old baggage that needs to get set off the train -  Thanks for your kind words - I appreciate them very much -  Kellie

Congrats Kellie!  Everyone i****ting milestones this week and it is so awesome!  I long for the day that I can say that I'm overweight instead of obese!  I'm sure that you are feeling on top of the world today!

Thanks, Jennie!  Milestones are few and far apart these days, so I enjoy them when they come.  I look forward to congratulating you when you become overweight!!! Kellie

This is great news, Kellie. I liked what you said about using the categories for a measure or where you came from, and not worrying about the meaning of them so much. I feel the same way now, although before surgery it would've meant so much to me I would've given up before I started. I wanted to tell you that one of the things you have been helping me to learn by the things you have posted is how to not beat yourself up when you allow yourself to loosen up with food. That you can have a meal or a day where you aren't rigid, that you can go up a few pounds and get right back to the program and it's not a crisis. This is a really big issue for me, and I so fear the day I "lose control", so I'm glad you are willing to share you journey with that. -Julie
Practice safe eating - always use condiments.

Thanks for your thoughtful response, Julie.   I'm glad some of my posts have been helpful to you.  I've adopted the attitude that all things are okay in moderation, and my pouch helps with that because I dump if I eat too many processed carbs.  Food is not inherently evil; I just needed to change my relationship with it.  It was almost like leaving an abusive relationship and finding one that was healthy.  I don't think I will ever be "cured," but I hope to continue working on being better than I was.   Best wishes for a great Thanksgiving -  Kellie
