Got home yesterday afternoon...as my daughter let you know, things went well. Hospitals. of course are not meant for sleeping and my room was right off the nurses station, so it was hellish, but I am happy to be home and settled. DH helped me get a shower this morning, which felt good.  I thought I could survive on just Tylenol, but the LorTabs seem to work much better.  The sorest part is of course the left incision where the camera(scope) was manuevered thru alot of muscle.  Doc said it was to be expected.  BIGGEST disappointment for me was getting on the scale this morning to see that after 5 days of eating NOTHING...I GAINED 8 lbs?????? WTF is that from? FLuid? Lord knows it wasn't cheesecake LOL.  Is this common.  OK....its back to my easy chair for now.  Hugs to you all...I will share this journey as things progress.  Right now I'm very

Welcome home and welcome to the loser's bench!  That first shower felt great - who knew simply getting clean could feel so fabulous?   Don't worry about the 8 pounds - it's just fluid retention from surgery.  It'll go away in a few days, trust me.   My advice-> get as much rest as possible, sip, sip, sip whenever you are awake, stay ahead of the pain by keeping yourself medicated (I'm a firm believer in pain killers!), work on getting in that liquid protein, and walk as much as you can, even if you're only doing laps in your livingroom!!  And, above all, be patient!  It may be rough for a few weeks, but everything gets better...  We're here if you have questions Kellie

Welcome home and congratulations . Don't worry about the 8lbs, of course it's fluid. Walking will help it come off, as well as help you avoid clots. So will getting in all your water. I agree, stay ahead of your pain if you have any. Sleep all you need to. Within a week you will be amazed how much better you feel!! -Julie
Practice safe eating - always use condiments.

Congratulations!  I'm glad everything went well - sleeping at home is heaven after a stay in the hospital.  And the first shower.... ahhh yes I remember it fondly.  I got a shower in the hospital both times but it just wasn't the same as your own shower.  I gained 13 lbs of fluid when I had surgery.  Totally normal, as I'm sure you've ascertained from the previous posters.  I didn't do much pain control at home because the Lortab upset my tummy.  I think I used it twice... but I refilled my prescription twice so I've got a ton of liquid lortab in case anyone I know gets hurt!  My sorest spot was over the liver, and then the incision next to my belly button hurt the longest, actually it still twinges now and again, I think because it gets stretched from my hanging belly.  I also still can't feel anything in about a 6 inch circle around that incision - the doc cut a nerve during the second procedure apparently.  He said feeling will come back.  Its kind of cool feeling though, I like to tap it and scratch it and stuff just because its strange and alien feeling.  I'm weird.  Get lots of rest and lots of fluid! Best Wishes, Jenn

Congrats! Good to hear you are doing well! Take it easy and try not to pu**** too hard - I was exhausted that first week and did nothing but walk slowly, measure my food and sleep . You'll be up and about before you know it! Big hugs Pam
