Thanksgiving Plans?

We need a rousing discussion today, so I thought I'd find out what everyone has planned for Thanksgiving. My niece is coming from San Francisco for the week, so I expect we will be pretty busy doing stuff.  One thing we have scheduled is to see the stage production of "White Christmas" at the Buell Theater on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  I hope to talk them into doing lots of fun stuff, such as driving up to Estes Park (we missed the yodeling elk, darn it).  It all depends on the weather.  My sister is not a "goer" and her idea of a fun time is to go to a movie.  I endeavor to change her way of thinking!  We always order a free-range turkey, and my sister is quite skilled at cooking up a nice, tasty turkey, so I look forward to eating moist dark meat.  I think we plan to keep the menu simple, just bird, mashies, and a vegetable (oh, and stuffing for those who eat bread).  My sister also wants to do a prime rib prior to the Bird Day, and being a devout carnivore, I think that sounds just fine.  Yum! We also plan to put up the tree while my niece is here. What fun things do you have planned for Thanksgiving? Kix

Marge, good thing tomorrow isn't weigh in day, I gained 12 lbs reading your post!  I now know where to head if I need some place to go at Christmas (especially if I end up having to take a job in Atlanta).  The holidays at your house sound like great fun! Kix

Sounds like you have a fun week planned! I'm not a big holiday person, at least when it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas. As a matter of fact, it's pretty well known among my friends that i'm kind of a Bah Hum Bug kind of gal. Today I had a friend call me and on the other end of the line I heard a local radio station, already playing 24/7 Christmas music - UGHHH!!!! He was just laughing his head off at my swearing tirade into the phone. I have very mean friends. This year, though, will be a little weird without dad. Mom is intent on getting out of the house and has decided we are going to Texas to spend it with my brother and his family. I'm hoping it's warm when I'm there so I can enjoy some hiking in a local canyon.  the best part of next week.. NO SCHOOL!!  A well deserved and much needed break from this crazy schedule I have been keeping. I actually have tonight free and I'm going to go shop- have a great night!

That damn KOSI-FM, I don't know why they insist on playing Christmas music so early.  Lucky for me, they aren't my main radio stations when it comes to music (props to KCUV and KUVO); even so, a girl likes a change occasionally and KOSI filled the gap nicely until this week.  Ugh! Christmas for me can be either up or down depending on my mood and my location.  There are some Christmases where I wanted to be alone and not do anything Christmas-like at all, and others where I was like our pal Marge!  Go figure.  It doesn't help that my birthday is ten days before Christmas and depending on the Jewish calendar, Hanukkah, too.  It just turns into a free-for-all. The first holidays after one loses a beloved family member are kind of odd, so don't be surprised if your family has a bit of a bumpy time.   Shopping, grr!  The outfit I bought at Colorado Mills for 20% off last week was 40% off today.  The story of my life, if I'm not paying full retail for something, I'm still paying way too much for it. I'll be in Amarillo for Thanksgiving, then San Antonio for Christmas. Yeah, it feels like I'll be spending lots of time in texas this year - hoping it stays warm! But my mom is having a hard time thinking about being at home for the holidays, so this is kind of for her. Can't wait to meet you at Christmas though! I was thinking that Friday, Dec. 28 would work (I leave the next day). Would that work for you?

I think that would work great - I have an open schedule all day (yay school holidays!), and my husband is free in the evenings.

Me too!  I want to meet both of you - my CO buddies!  I am looking for a conference in CO for the spring or summer actually.
