I currently weigh 475 and wear a 5xl in shirts and 6xl in pants.  I am trying to figure out sizes--how much do you all weigh and what sizes do you wear??

Hi Maddie!  Welcome to the BMI over 50 group.  My highest weight ever preop was 384, and I wore a size 34W pant from Catherines, and a 30/32 top.  Once I started exercising, even before surgery, I was able to get my size down quickly with only a 31lb weight loss.  I then wore a 26W jean from Walmart and a 24/26 tshirt from Lane Bryant.  That is what I'm wearing in my official pre-op photo on my page.  Today, I'm 211, and wearing a 14 jean from Cold Water Creek, and a M (10-12) T-shirt.  In a blouse or botton down type shirt, I feel better in a 14 or large shirt.  I do have a larger muscle mass, and right now, my body fat % is averagine about 28%.  Anywhere from 24% to 34% is considered normal for a woman ages 30-44.  I'm 44.  If I were over 45, the normal % is 27%-35%.  Right now, I'm considering that I'm not too far from my goal weight.  I'm basing that on the body fat numbers rather than on my actual weight.  I know that I have a larger frame, and lots of muscle weight.  My original goal set by my PCP was 200 - 210.  I'm hoping to get down to something like 180 - 190.  I will be closer to that weight after having my excess skin removed.   Also, please know that we will all lose at a different rate, and your shape will change in ways that you didn't expect.  I figured that my hips/butt/thighs would always be huge, but they really aren't.  The only thing that is out of proportion right now is my calf area.  Those are still plus sized, while the rest of me is pretty small for a person of my weight -- people are guessing that I weigh about 150 right now!  Exercise and muscle building is the way to a smaller shape faster, and you will be in smaller sizes before you know it! Hope this helps you!  Good luck on your journey!

First let me start by saying everybody is so different. I have a small waist and NO BUTT at all.

I am 5'71/2 and I started out at 362 wearing a tight 32. I now weight 223 and I wear a comfortable 16 or 14W(samething)or a 1x. I can even wear a large in some shirts but not in bottoms. I need a belt for everything since my waist is around 31 to 30 inches.  I use to wear a 48DDD or E in Bra now I am a 40D(after I roll them up and put them in the cup)I use to wear a 91/2 wide shoe now I wear a 8M.

I started out at 440 and wore a 32 or 34 pant and a 32 shirt - I am short and small framed.  I now weigh about 350 and wear a 32 or 30 pant and a 28 shirt.  Its hard to believe I have had virtually no size change but my clothes fit better now and a few are too baggy for public wear.  Everyone is different though - I had a much higher BMI than a lot of people I know who wear 32s, but for whatever reason they still fit me too.

I started out at 530 lbs and wore anywhere from a 6x to a 9 or 10x depending on the outfit. I weigh 217 today (yay!) and the weight came off me in weird ways!  I still carry fat in my thighs, and because of that, I have to buy a 22 pant and use a big safety pin because they are too big in the waist.  If it weren't for my big thighs, I'd probably be in an 18 pant.  I don't need to lose weight anywhere else but my thighs, and it's a stubborn battle! I wear an xl top now, but again, I have a lot of excess skin.   One day, I hope to have all the skin pulled/tightened/lopped off/whatever so I can find out what size I really am under all this flapping epidermis!   One place I like shopping is Junonia, because they provide detailed measurements for each garment (including the thigh measurement, which helps me tremendously).
