What I had to do was give in to the decision I had made and remember that I could do nothing else. Really, truly, nothing else, but bring my body to the hospital. I had to tell myself this over and over until they had the mask on my face in the OR. In fact, I think at one point in pre-op I actually asked the anesthesiologist if there was anything I could do to help. I thought he wet his pants from laughing so hard.
