I THOUGHT I would handle it better than this

The hair loss has started.  I'd like to THINK I am not a vain person (which may or may not be true, but I'm sticking to my story).  I told myself I could roll with the hair loss because it was so worth it.  I still believe that, because that is the truth, BUT darn it, I didn't have a heck of a lot of hair to start.  Its baby fine and not very thick.  So now its really coming out, I can already see how much thinner it is above my forehead.  I know its only temporary, but its still bothering me.  I will be very self-conscious (more than I already am being super fat) if I am bald too!  How did you handle the hair loss?  (Mentally and physically)  Any tips to disguise it?  Should I chop it all off?  Also, have any of you tried VistaVitamins?  If so, what do you think?  Did you feel any better as compared to regular vitamins?  I am thinking about trying them, but they are so expensive!

I tryed everything...bought some pills, forgot there name thou... used a shampoo called Niacin and nothing worked.

The best thing to do is get a cute short haircut..and trust me it does get better. but I understand totally, I was and am very vain about my hair..(I think because when we are so heavy its the only thing we seem to have control of) Hang in there it is totally worth it. Lynn

Aawwwwwwwwww dunny that sucks!!  My daughter Karyn had to deal with that too. As a matter of fact I have another daughter who lost weight on her own with diet pills (kind of a rapid loss of about 50 lbs in 4 months and she started losing hair also. I asked my MD about this (Hell, I'm vain too!) He said it has to do with lack of protein and that many MD's prescribe FLintstone chewables. He claims you're an adult and you need adult vitamins.  I used to be a rep for Melaleuca products (ever heard of them?) Their vitamins are patented because of their 98% absorption rate when other OTC vitamins, most of the value to them leaves your body in your urine before its absorbed. I have taken these vitamins for 4 yrs. and wouldn't take any others, so I am praying they do the trick. Plus, I have vowed to myself that I will make protein a #1 priority. Will it help? Only time will tell. I agree that your pic with the hair back really makes you look pretty. If it really gets to you, some salons sell hair extensions. Not sure how that works, but you might feel better looking into that.  HUGS! You are doing so well...don't let a few strands of hair get ya down.  P.S.  Kindly remember this speech and give it to me when I start *****in about the same thing OK?  LOL

Thanks for the info, the melaleuca look interesting.  They aren't quite as expensive as the vista vitamins I was looking at, so that's a bonus.

And thanks to both ladies for the compliments on my picture.  I've actually only been trying bangs for a little less than a year.  Before that I never had them.  I am not sure what I think of bangs or whether I will keep them, but headbands are a good idea.  I'll definitely keep that in mind!

HEY DUNNY,        FIRST OFF LET ME SAY IM THE PRESIDENT OF THAT CLUB... MY HAIR FELL OUT SO BADLY AT FIRST.. BUT I PROMISE IT DOESNT LAST FOREVER... ITS LIKE YOUR BODY GOES THRU THIS MAJOR CHANGE AND DESIDES TO TAKE IT OUT ON THE HAIR... JUST MAKE SURE YOU KEEP UP WITH THE PROTEIN... MAJOR MAJOR IMPORTANT. AND THE VITAMINS.. I ENDED UP CUTTING MY HAIR.. IT HELPED ALOT. BUT I KNOW NOT EVERYONE WANT TO DO THAT... I JUST LOVE SHORT HAIR ANYWAY... I WAS STOPPING UP THE DRAINS LIKE CRAZY... I HAVE THICK DORA THE EXPLORER HAIR ANYWAY AND HAVE PLENTY TO SPARE.. BUT I KNOW ITS DEPRESSING... I WOULD GET SCARED I WAS LOSING SO MUCH.. WONDERING IF WAS NORMAL TO LOSE THAT MUCH BUT IT WEANED OFF AROUND TEN OR SO MONTHS OUT... YOURS MAY NOT NOWHERE LAST THAT LONG.. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. JUST HANG IN THERE AND I HAVE TO SAY... YOUR PIC IS AMAZING... I ALWAYS TELL YA YOU HAVE THE MOST UNREAL EYES... YOU CAN SEE THEM SO WELL WITH YOUR HAIR AND ALL LIKE THAT TO.... HUGS MARGE

LOL - silly Wacko!  Its fine, I don't disagree - really short hair usually looks cutest on tiny pixie like girls or tall amazonian models.
