I'm back!  Y'all miss me? I don't plan to do any formal exercise today.  My knees are still sore from all the walking I did while I was away.  True to form, all the gates my flights left from were 150 miles from the main terminal.  At least I was able to make the walk without having to stop every 12 inches and rest.  I didn't have to stop and rest at all this time.  In the olden days when I was circus-sized fat, I used to have to beg to get a ride on the disabled cart.  Not only do I not have to do that any more, I was able to keep up with my sister, who is taller and has longer legs than I do.  I was also able to fit in my seat with both armrests down, and I was gobsmacked that I could lower the tray table without difficulty.  I kept lowering it during my first flight just because I was able to do so.   More about my trip later!  What fun things are you dong to move your body today? Welcome back, Kix, and of course we missed you!!!  Isn't it great to be able to roam about the airport and not be totally wiped out?  Double blessing to be able to fit comfortably in the seat (well, as comfortable as one can be in an airplane seat!!!!).   In terms of exercise, so far today I've made far too many trips to the Halloween potluck table...  To hopefully do some damage control, my workout buddy and I are heading to the gym mid-afternoon for 40-50 minutes of cardio.   Enjoy getting settled back in at home - traveling is good, but settling in at home after traveling is great!  Kellie

Hi, Kellie: The walking was almost so easy for me that I nearly took it for granted.  I walked 100 miles from the car to the main terminal, 150 miles to the gate, and another 50 miles to the car rental barn.  We flew Southwest, who is known for being somewhat insensitive to SMOs.  In the past, I always bought two tickets when I traveled.  I only bought one this time and worried I wouldn't fit.  I fit with a bit of room to spare, which was good because it turns out my sister's azz is getting fatter and she lopped over into my seat. I took my pedometer on vacation and forgot to use it, darn it.  I'm curious to know just how much walking I did, because it sure seemed like a lot.  Those casinos are huge, too, and the parking space we found at the hotel was (of course) 200 miles away from the side of the hotel our room faced.  It's a Kix thing, you know. When you do your cardio, is it interval-style or just steady? Kix

Hi Kix!  Welcome back.  I look forward to the airport and airplane being easier from now on.  My last trip required buying two seats, and the carrying of luggage from the car to the terminal was nearly deadly.  And then all that walking.  I was wiped out.  I haven't been great about exercise lately, but I am going to get on the bike right NOW and do 30 minutes, so that is what I am reporting.  I wouldn't want to fib, so now I HAVE to do it Happy Halloween!

Dunny, one of the neatest things about losing weight is how easier it becomes to perform routine tasks like walking, carrying things, etc.  I checked my bag because I didn't want to get the free colonoscopy at security, but I could have managed carrying it to the gate without keeling over. While in Kingman (the armpit of Northern Arizona), we attended a Halloween carnival that required we bring our own seating if we wanted to sit.  I carried all six plastic patio chairs (the kind that stack) from my AZ sister's tuna boat (Escalade) all the way across the park to the parade grounds without even feeling winded.  I couldn't have managed that when I was fatter. I still have problems when I stand for long periods of time, it makes my knees ache like a son of a gun, but I think it's because my knees are shot from being so darned fat for so long.  I don't think it's a routine problem for most folks who lose weight. Did you enjoy the biking exercise?  I may drag out my armbike today and see if I can use it as a foot bike.  I'd like to do some sort of exercise today even if my knees and calves want the day off.
