Hello Guys,

I would like to know whether any one of you had an abnormal chest x-ray. Mine came back abnormal and my doctor ordered a Cat Scann, and i had the test done today.  I am really really worried. I am scared that something may be wrong, and i am scared i may not be able to have the surgery.  If you have gone through an abnormal chest x-ray i will apreciate if you share your experience. Thanks

I had an abnormal chest x-ray followed by a cat scan about 10 years ago.  It turned out to be nothing -- a couple small highly calcified nodules in my left lung.  They don't bother me, they have not changed in shape or size since they were originally found, and they present no long-term health risks.   I know you are worried -- it's scary when you don't know what's going on.  But the results of your cat scan should be available pretty quickly, then you will know what you are dealing with.  In the meantime, try to keep yourself occupied with other things!   Good luck on your continuing journey -  Kellie

I actually had an abnormal CT scan showing "lumps" or something in my lungs.  Followed up with an x-ray showing the shadows, and several months later another CT scan.  They are calicified nodules that are caused by a severe lung infection - pneumonia or bad bronchitis.  I have 2-3 of them that are 2-3 mm in diameter.

A pulmonologist checked my CT films, along with a radiologist, and determined they were calcified tissues.  I didn't see the pulmonary doctor, and it was my hemotoligist that sent me for the CT scan, x-ray and follow up CT.  Once it was determined that they were not increasing in size, or causing a problem, they decided to leave them alone.  You can have all kinds of lung nodules that are not a problem.

I do not have any breathing difficulty.  I did have asthma, but once I started losing weight, I've had no issues with asthma. I hope that you can get some answers.  Let us know what you find out at your appointment.
