Open/Lap

I understand you've got to do what's best during surgery, but I would at least like to have the surgeon go in doing a lap.  I haven't even seen him yet, so I'm probably getting ahead of myself, haha.  What exactly is a medial RNY?

I was almost 500 lbs at the time of my 1st consult...my surgeon told me he could attempt to do a lap surgery, but he wasn't sure he'd be able to do a full lap procedure because I carried a lot of weight in my stomach...and the tools have a certain angle that you have to work with......I ended up with an open surger...and the recovery was  bit longer...but I had the full DS in 1 surgery..and I lost all of my excess weight in 18 months. Good luck to you... scott

My weight is kind of evenly dispersed, if anything it's mostly in my butt so I'm hoping that'll make a lap easier.  Congrats on your wl :o)
