I'm home after being gone for the week in Las Vegas.  John attended the SAP developers conference.  He has been out of work since May 1 and felt that learning something about SAP might help him from a manager point of view when it comes to his next job.   I spent most of the week in the hotel room sewing on a quilt.  It was nice to have the time to work on a project!  I did go to the YMCA there a few times to try their water aerobics classes, but they were not anything like what I'm used to.  These are more for elderly or people with severe arthritis.  There was NO cardio at all, and they just used the tiny therapy pool which was too shallow and hot to do a hard workout.  So most of the week, I sat, sewed and ate 2-3 meals per day.  I thought that I would gain, BUT I actually dropped 4 lbs!  I think I had put my body into a starvation mode with all the exercise that I'm doing and not being able to eat enough to sustain the exercise.  I think that the sitting and doing nothing really helped!  I'm in shock this morning after I weighed.  I struggled all last month to lose hardly any weight, and to lost almost that much in a few days really surprised me.  I will have to watch and balance my exercise with more protein supplements when I'm swimming so much for swim lessons. My quilt is coming along really well, and I'm excited to see it shaping up.  I have 2 projects that are nearly finished with the blocks, so that is very exciting!  I'm making good progress! I'm not much of a gambler, I think I spent a total of $30 on the slot machines for the week, most of that on the night I had to wait for John at the Mandaly Bay for 2 hours. Oh, I also discovered Chipotle Mexican Grill. It's kind of like Subway, but for burritos and tacos.  I've seen them around, but had never tried one until this trip.  They will make it with the fillings that you request, and it is really good.  They offer a bowl burrito -- all the fillings but no tortilla.  I had this a few times over the week, lots of meat, black beans some cheese, lettuce, guacamole, and roasted corn.  We also found Samurai Sam's teriyaki grill, http://www.samuraisams.net which was also a great choice.  They have added salmon to their menu, so I had a low carb bowl with salmon.  We would often eat dinner or lunch at one of these places, because we just wanted simple, healthy food without being in a casino.   Anyway, it is good to be home, sleep in my own bed, and have my computer again.  I did take the laptop, but only downloaded my mail once and paid a bill or two, because we had to pay for internet access. Hope you all had a good week!  Off to the pool for me this morning, then helping a friend move.

Mmm chipotle is good, especially their guacamole and their rice.  I used to get burrito bowls pretty often, but I have not tried one post-op because it would take 4-5 meals to eat it.  I did grab a little to go cup of guacamole there post-op when all I could tolerate was avocados.  I ate it with a spoon.  Yum.  Congratulations on the 4 lbs.  Maybe eating more will kick start some additional pounds.  We went to Vegas over the summer and I didn't really enjoy it.  I'm not much of a gambler and everything was so expensive.  I was also cranky on the pre-op diet looking at all that food around.  I was just cranky.  I wanted to see shows, but not enough money.  I wanted to eat bad stuff but wasn't allowed.  It was hot and smelly and I just am not a Vegas person.  I wish I'd had a quilt to work on too!  Best wishes, Jenn

I have been twice since my surgery....I DO like to gamble, but I also loved all the stores, and saw some shows...I must admit I can't imagine staying in the room the whole time. but to each their own...Glad your home and continued good luck with the weight loss.
