It's the weekend!  And what a glorious day it is in Colorado today -- bright blue sky, crisp weather, light breeze.  Truly, it's Tourism Guide weather today. The gym is open.  I'm not sure if I'll get to the rec center at all -- this is the final weekend of the project from Hell, it must be finished by Monday.  Even though I am earning a nice hunk of money on this project, I will be extremely grateful for it to be DONE! It's probably just as well I'm not going anywhere -- the Rockies play Game 3 tonight (go, Rockies!), and then the Broncos play tomorrow, as do the Avalanche, plus the Walk for the Cure, plus Game 4 if the Rockies screw up today.  It will be impossible to get anywhere close to town this weekend.  Oh, and I hear it's supposed to be cold and (possibly) snowy, too.  Snow level is predicted at 6000 ft, which is just about where I am, so AARGH! What fun (or boring) things did you do to move your body this weekend? Kix

Hi Kix, I'm back at home, and went to my regular Y and had a great workout in the pool this morning.  It is cool here - about 56 when I got in the water, and about 62 when I got back in my car.  A hot shower felt nice. I'm wondering what type of programming you are doing.  My husband has worked on IBM midrange machines forever, and used to do lots of RPG programming.  He is learning Java and other languages.  He is thinking of getting into consultant programming work. Thanks for opening the gym this morning!

Go Rockies!  I am hoping for a Rockies-Indians world series.  My husband is, as ever, routing for the Cubs.  Poor guy.  I think he secretly loves the disappointment.. the lovable loser Cubs.

Is it just not gorgeous this weekend? I am so glad it didn't get all rainy and snowy today, although I am a little hacked off that they were wrong - I could of gone hiking! It's been 2 weeks and I'm going through withdrawals. And I just have to say, how about those Rockies! I struggled to keep my eyes open for the last  couple of innings, but it was so worth it. What a great game! Yesterday I helped some friends move in the morning, so that was a bit of a workout. Then in the afternoon I decided to try and run a 5k on the treadmill. Oh my gosh, I am so not ready to run a 5k! My body rebelled in a big way - I hurt all over, especially my gluts. I did finish but had to walk part of it and just ended up doing interval training, run for 5 minutes, walk for 2, etc. I think I'm going to have to go back to the original training program I was doing - I skipped a few steps and that may of been why I had such a hard time. This has taught me a valuable lesson... to make sure my head doesn't get bigger than my ability! Today I took it easy, I woke up hurting big time. So, I did 20 minutes walking on the treadmill then about 40 minutes of upper and lower weights. And I did lots of stretching, spent about 30 minutes just trying to work out the muscles. I feel much better now. This afternoon I'm getting a big aerobic workout in by shopping! I'm amazed how I can spend hours in a store, trying on everything, and never get bored. Before I would be bored out of my wits - of course, I could never find anything I liked. What a difference a year makes!
