Emotional Eating Books
My belief is based on the premise that what we think affects our behavior and feelings, so once we are aware of what we thought or are thinking we can change our behavior and thereby alter the depth of our feelings. (Simplified version of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, not my own insight). We may think we know what is bothering us, or what we are thinking about it, but once we learn how those thoughts may be distorted (aka not helpful) we can learn to change them and thus change the intensity of our feelings as well as our behavior (how cool is that???)
Here are some books to check out that follow this theory:
Feeling Good - by David Burns
Thoughts & Feelings - by Matthew McKay, Patrick Fanning, Martha Davis
The Beck Diet Solution:Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person - by Judith Beck
Don't be put off by the diet book. Judith Beck is the wife of Aaron Beck, one of the founders of the CBT movement, so this book is not a diet fad book, but rather how to stop eating for emotional reasons.
