Thanks, Jan!  I'm kind of a useless photographer.  I don't even own a decent camera, I just take pictures with my cell phone and hope they turn out OK!  Kix

It was a lot of fun!  I found out about the Cog Railway while I was in Colorado Springs attending PJ's dad's funeral.  When I came home and mentioned it to my sister, she had never heard of it (after living here over 20 years, too!), so we decided it would be our next adventure. I highly recommend it!  Colorado has several of these railways.  I'd like to try the one further south next time, although I think that's more of an overnight trip. Our next adventure is to go to Estes Park and see the yodeling elk.  It's supposed to be a big deal this time of year. Kix

Yodeling elk?  Sounds like an adventure.  Do they have any talking bears? When we drove to Pike's peak I remember asking if we could take the railway, but for some reason the parents said no. Probably money.  I've been up to Colorado a few times (I am originally from NM) and my favorite areas were always the things we'd find accidentally just wandering.  Hiking paths, little valleys with streams and such.  There was some scenic thing we went to, no idea what it is, but a nature tour with maybe some ruins or something.  I think it was near Colorado Springs, but it may have been near Pueblo.  I just remember it being really pretty until a storm came out of nowhere and they made us run to shelter so we didn't get struck by lightening.  Its so lovely there, I hope to move somewhere scenic again eventually, because TX is getting pretty boring - its pretty up in the pine forests (NE), and southern TX (the "hill country") has its own charm, but its all starting to look the same.  I miss mountains!
