Hi all !! Well it's been a long 2 year wait for me but I am now MediCare elligable. I am worndering has anyone here had WLS with Medicare, MediCal, MediCaid coverage. I have been Fighting (almost literaly) to get WLS for +/- 6 years But have had more set backs that any one person should have to put up with and now hopefully I can get it and get on with a healthy life.

Yes, I had WLS and I'm on Medicare (Kaiser).  Medicare requires that the surgery be done at a hospital certified as a Center of Excellence, so I had my surgery at a hospital Kaiser doesn't usually use because its contract hospital wasn't yet certified.  (Note to Californians:  here in Colorado, Kaiser contracts with private hospitals --we don't have Kaiser hospitals). How easy or difficult it will be as a Medicare recipient will depend on your particular coverage (is it straight Medicare, or Medicare Advantage, or Medicare HMO) and what your surgeon requires in terms of any pre-op testing, etc. Hope this helps, Kix
