Its been almost  two weeks since my fateful day, and yesterday was the first really negative day I've had.  I lost my lunch and my dinner.  At lunch I think I drank too fast, not sure what the deal with the dinner protein shake was.  I think that was a case of a still unhappy pouch.  I had my first experience (and second and third experiences) with the foamies.  Yum.  I am keeping down water and tea this morning but I am a little reluctant to try anything else yet.  The dinner incidents were a bit violent on the stomach and throat.  Last night when I was trying to sleep I definitely felt regret for what I'd done to myself.  Today I am in a better state of mind about it, but then today I don't feel like I did last night! I am not sore anywhere except the largest incision (over my liver), and it mostly just itches or stings if I sit or turn the wrong way.   Exercise is ok, but I am definitely feeling more tired than I did at first.  I've been scrapbooking a lot and I am ready to go back to work.  That's my update.

It's hard to remember that you've had major surgery when you only have a few puncture holes in your abdomen.  Let your body tell you when you need rest, and then rest!  It isn't unusual to have bursts of energy, followed by periods of absolute inertia. If you horked up your lunch, your pouch was probably still tender at dinner and didn't want to accept the dinner shake.  Early on, I was worried about drinking too fast, so I used a big spoon and sort of ate my protein shakes as if they were a soup.  This helped keep me from gulping them down only to hork them right back up.  Horking really blows, doesn't it?  The itching incisions bugged the heck out of me.  I had one incision that hit right where my pants' waistline**** and it seemed like the itching would never end.  It wasn't irritated at all, it just itched, and itched, and itched, and... well, you get the idea. Two weeks already!  Wow, time does fly.  Keep up the good work!  Kix

Oh Jenn that sounds awful and had to hurt coming back up. I sneezed yesterday and though I would die so I can only imagine how rough you must be feeling. It does sound like your pouch was still upset. Hopefully you have already had a better day today. HUGS. Jo

I am sorry to hear about the unhappy pouch, but I know it will get better... that is what I hold on to... That itching is just crazy isn't it, but I remember something my mother used to tell me, is that when a "boo-boo" starts to itch, that means it is healing... so I figure, the one that is itching the most, for me is directly over my navel, (scar tissue from a previous surgery), must really be on the healing path Have you started your pureed food yet?  Here's to our fateful day!!! Even though we can't have any bubbly

Aawwwwwwwwwwwww so sorry to hear you had that experience.  Help a newbie understand...what exactly is the "foamies"?  Are you only taking in liquids at this point?  Did you by any chance drink thru a straw?  I was told thats a no-no.  Hope you are feeling better. I'm in your corner!

Hi Jenn!  Congrats on your successful surgery - I knew you'd make it out just fine.  I'm sorry to hear about your dumping early on.  I had serious problems with protein shakes when i was first post op because my lactose intolerance got about 100 times worse right after surgery, so any protein drinks made me extremly sick.  My doc took me off of them altogether for a while.  After about six months, my lactose intolerance gradually started to resolve itself (I have no idea why...) and now it is completely gone.  Anyway, restlessness is a good sign, I suppose.  I'm glad you're ready to go back to work.  continue to get some rest and walk as much as you can.  I am convinced that the first month is the worst and it gets better and better from there! Hugs, Tracy P.S.  I still cannot look at my silk manning exercise tape and keep a straight face - you're a nut!

Jesus is so good to me;  I couldn't ask for a better friend, protector, leader, savior!
