Gym Is Open (Monday)
Hi guys!
I did an early morning AquaFit class today at 5:30. The water felt so cold when I got in, but, I forgot about that as the instructor kicked our butts. I'm going to try this as part of my regular routine. It is on Mon and Wed mornings with a 9 am Saturday class.
What did you do to move your body today?
Lori
20 mins elliptical
20 mins leg training
20 mins elliptical
and as always the best part was when it was DONE!

I've been naughty and not exercising for the past week. I did go back to the rec center today, planning to do a half-hour of in-line skating machine and a half-hour of slow lap swimming until the aqua arthritis class started, then do the class. However, when I got to the gym, someone was using the in-line skating machine (hmph!), and I didn't want to wait, so I ended up swimming laps slowly for an hour and a half. By then, I was too whipped to take the aqua arthritis class.
The seniors who use this warm water pool are awfully clueless sometimes. Many of them just stand in the water, holding an exercise noodle. I want to swim back and forth, and there are times when they just get in my way. You'd think they would see me swimming back and forth and not wander right into my path.

I've been adding a little more activity each daysince surgery, my husband has kindly been walking with me and I've added five minutes to each session most days so I am at 25 minutes 2x a day. Its soooo hot though, I am totally sapped when I come back inside. I want to join Curves soon, my surgeon provides a free three month membership if you have surgery at Innova hospital. I tried the exercise bike today and got kind of seasick - also the bouncing sore belly wasn't doing me any good. I will try again in a few days I think. I need some AC with my activity. I wish I had a treadmill!
Hi, Lori! I did an outdoor water aerobics class last summer - it was a first and a last for me. Loved the class, but the water was freezing most days and we got rained out about half the time. I may look into an indoor class in the fall - I think our local rec centers offer classes.
As for today, I will head to the gym after work for 50 minutes of cardio. I didn't exercise at all this weekend and am feeling sort of antsy. Hope that a good exercise session will burn off this restless energy!

Kellie,
This AquaFit class was indoors! I think they keep this pool so cold because they do swim meets there. It is okay though, just a shock at 5:30 am.
I am going to go back to the gym soon too. I got some nervous energy issues from work today and a board meeting tonight. Could use some cardio in between. I'm going to try and leave work early so I can do that.

That's why I swim and take aqua classes at the rec center that has a warm water therapy pool. It's like swimming in a nice, warm bath. That's why it's me and 800 seniors old enough to be my grandparents (and I'm almost 50). The fit seniors swim at the rec center where I usually do my cardio and strength training. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold pool water, and at the rec center up the street from my house, I'm pretty sure they throw blocks of ice in the pool to be sure it is colder than Lake Tahoe.
