Pre-op appts cancelled

My surgeon's office called to cancel my pre-op appts for Monday. They said it was because they hadn't heard from my insurance yet. When they wanted to cancel last week they had planned on re-scheduling, but this time they aren't going to until they hear from the insurance people. Normally that wouldn't bother me so much except with the whole possible insurance loss issue I am facing this raises my anxiety tenfold. I don't have anything concrete to be heading towards now. Too much ambiguity is a big problem for me. This has been a difficult week just knowing about the impending insurance loss and as a result my cravings have been high. Now I am still fighting my fears, but just really wish someone would come hold my hand. Anyone want a free vacation on Cape Cod?   -Julie

Julie, I'm so sorry for all of this mixup.  I hope that you are able to get some clarification and resolution soon and will be able to have your surgery soon. Hugs,
Jennie

Oh hon, I am so sorry about that. I do feel for ya, the year I went through while fighting my insurance was one of the hardest ever for me. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions - it really sucks. I wish I could come out to Cape Cod and help ya and give you a big hug, but since I can't I'm going to try to do it right here {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{huggggssssss}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} keep your head up and don't hesitate to come here and just vent - it sure does help! I am sending you spiritual hugs across this nation. you are going through so much with you insurance ( I am not a big fan of insurance companies) have you called them to see what the problem is???? I have a friend who needs a hip replacement they are jerking her around but she calls them and the doctors office daily to make sure there are no mishaps I think that is a good thing because the old saying is the squeaky wheel gets the grease. and they may hurry up and push it throught just to get you off their back. you are in my thought. Thanks you guys for listening. I am so scared of giving up on the changes I have made right now. I do understand that no one is at fault here (except the State of Massachusetts and it's new law about health insurance for everyone). They probably shouldn't have scheduled me for anything until they had the approval. But other than the time it took for my PCP to turn in her paperwork to the surgeon, and the surgeon to send it to the insurance, nothing has gone wrong on that end so there is really nothing I can do to help the process at this point. At a later date, if I get denied or it takes too long after they finally submitted it, I can call or appeal. But the threat right now is that I will lose the insurance due to the law change on 7/1 (which I have appealed and am waiting for a hearing on) before I get the approval and the surgery. Rather than just the normal fear of delay in surgery, this fear is not getting it at all, because I won't have insurance. And as we all know, yo-yo dieting is really harmful and part of what got us to this point. I have just lost 40lbs in order to get ready for surgery, and the only thing that kept me going was knowing I wouldn't give up because the tool would help me finalize the changes and keep the weight off. With it, I am sure the past will repeat itself and I am doomed to gain the 40 back plus more. So in effect, I feel sentenced to death and it is hard to stay focused on my health when I feel this way. Does this make sense?
