Hi. I was wondering if anyone heard from DuunyBoctor and how she did in surgery?

I haven't heard from her, but am keeping her in my thoughts and prayers.  Perhaps she will come home from the hospital today and have a chance to get online for a minute...  Will continue to send positive energy out to her for an uneventful recovery, and look forward to welcoming her to the loser's bench -  Kellie

I'm home!  Thanks for the good positive energy.  I wanted to get on here before I went to the hospital but with family coming in and everything I just didn't have a chance.   Surgery was Monday morning, and it went smoothly.  No extra holes or conversion to open like I was worried about.  Actually the surgeon was really impressed with my tiny liver and my weight loss (finally).  He did some things that really made me angry though - he didn't go talk to my family after surgery, so they sat there for hours wondering what had happened.  He said he forgot, but in reality he wrote them off just like he's written me off.  He's been very disrespectful of us all, more than once.  I really wasn't imagining it.  Instead, he went on the the next surgeries and no one came to talk to my family.   As far as pain and recovery I am doing ok, I walked a ton and my leg muscles are dying - I walked blisters into my feet!  What was I thinking??  I am not eating well yet, but working on water mostly.  I think once all of those different meds start clearing out I'll MAYBE be able to stomach something.  I had some problems with potassium and am a little worried that he bypassed sooo much intestine (he said about 150 cm!) Anyway, I will post more later, I need some rest but I wanted to let everyone know I was fine and thank you all for your support, encouragement, and positive thoughts.

Welcome home! I'm sorry that the surgeon didn't communicate the way he should have.  That is very hard on families.  A friend of mine also had that happen to her husband. I think that 100 - 150 cm of bypass is in the normal range, more than that gets closer to distal than proximal. Take it slow and easy when adding new foods, because you don't want to hurt your new tummy. Get some rest and keep walking and drinking!  Glad to hear that you are feeling mostly OK.

Yeah! Good to hear you are home! That's too bad about the surgeon, just downright rude actually. Your poor family, they must of been a nervous wreck! The first couple of weeks were the hardest for me, so you might have some tough days. Just expect to be kind of up and down emotionally. Good for you for walking! That's a good habit to keep up.

Welcome home, Dunnyboctor!  I'm glad your surgery went well, but I'm so sorry your surgeon was such an inconsiderate jerk.  Failing to advise a patient's family about the results of their surgery is inexcusable.  Someone should have talked to them as soon as you were in recovery.   I'm glad you are doing okay.  It does take a while to recover from the anesthesia, plus getting accustomed to your pouch will be an adjustment.  But I know you'll do just fine.  Keep up the walking - I'm impressed at how well your moving already!   Will continue to send positive energy your way -  Kellie

I am so glad you are home. Your doctor was a jerk not to talk to your family. That is just not right. You take it easy and rest up. Hugs Jo
