Hi, Brandy and welcome to the losing side.  Regarding the sf pudding, you should really check with your surgeon about what he/she requires.  Each surgeon is somewhat different about what they allow post-op and how long they keep their patients on liquids, pureed, soft foods, etc.   Regarding water and milk, I didn't have a problem drinking water, but my pouch got full so fast that it was a real challenge to stay properly hydrated.  Before surgery, I could drink water at room temperature.  After surgery, I really only wanted to drink things that were super cold.  Now, 21 months out, I don't care if its room temperature or ice cold, as long as it's wet!  If you just can't get the water down, perhaps some crystal light or even SF popsicles will help keep you hydrated.   Regarding the pain from gas, keep on walking!  That'll help get things moving around down in your gut, and will help the gas go away faster.   Good luck for a speedy and healthy recovery.  Keep us posted on your progress! Congratulations! I'm glad everything went ok!  I'd check with your surgeon about the pudding, and try other liquids besides milk as much as possible since the calories will be less.  Crystal light, herbal tea, warm broth, or at least make sure its nonfat milk if you are drinking a lot of it.   Also, if you are eating a lot of soups and stuff, you'll be getting part of your liquid intake from that.  I hope you are pain-free soon!

Hi Brandy First of all congratulations!!!   I was worried about protein when I first came home too but I was told to make my main focus liquids to hydrate myself after surgery at first (during the first few days). Of course like the other posters have said always check with your surgeon's office on any of these specifics.  Just to give you a glimpse of what I experienced!!!  Good luck!

In the beggining I could NEVER get enough protein or fluids. Sugar free popsicles helped me a lot. My surgeon counted 2 of them as one fluid. I thought I would never get all the fluids and protein in. But after 9 months I do. Do not expect to do it in the beggining but try to get as much as possible. It is very easy to get dehydrated. I could not eat SF pudding in the beggining can now but don't much.

Always always check with your nutritionists or surgeon they are all so different.

Good luck welcome to the looser side.
