Gym is Open (Friday)
Hi Kix!
Thanks for opening the gym! I did not go to the gym today. I slept in! I've been in one long design meeting today and I'm headed to dinner at my friend's house tonight...so, it will be my day off. I plan on exercising tomorrow, then won't do it again until Tuesday as I will spend Sunday doing "bowel cleansing" for a colonoscopy on Monday...go ahead, say it, you are jealous!
Lori
Kix,
As usual, you are so funny!
Well, my colonoscopy went well. I had no polyps this time, so I get to wait 5 years until my next one! I have had a bit of a rough time recovering from the anesthesia. I came home yesterday and had to sleep for 6 hours, then today, I drove about a block to the grocery store, stopped to give a neighbor dog a treat, felt super woosey, got back in the car and drove home and had to sleep for 3 more hours. Feel good now, so will try going to the store again. That stuff kicks my butt!
Lori
P.S. No exercise today!
hey there lady, thanks for opening up the gym
You are just zooming on that in-line skating machine, good for you!
Today was my big hike day - I got up early and headed to the big, 9 mile, 2800 elevation gain hike I was planning. I got to the road and it was closed - seems they had some flooding last night and closed down the whole area! So, I punted and decided to head to Mt. Evans and do another hike I've been wanting to try.
Actually, I wouldn't exactly call it a hike, more like Rock Climbing... no, make that Rock Climbing on a washed out trail. It seems everywhere but my house had downpours last night and it made the trail really difficult. The first mile was all switchbacks with rocks, and the trail was so darn narrow along these huge cliffs! There were times I thought I would be become part of the scenery - thank good for my hiking poles!
I didn't make it all the way to the lakes I wanted to - I started out late and the storms started to pop up half way there. I did hike 4 miles, it is usually an 8 miles hike. The way back was all up hill (on a wet, rocky, cliff hanging trail - lots of fun) and I am feeling it in every muscle of my body. I had taken lots of extra water and my pack was so d%#n heavy that my back is screaming at me right now.
I've got pics but haven't loaded them yet - it was absolutely gorgeous back there. So, despite my whining about sore muscles, I am glad I did it. As a matter of fact, I'm going to do it again next week, this time I'll get there early enough to make it all the way to the top! Hopefully my muscles will be better by then

I hadn't planned to go quite that long on the in-line skating machine, but the woman using the treadmill next to me struck up a conversation, and it was so interesting I lost track of time!
I only did 35 minutes today, I just wasn't up to going a longer distance.
It sounds like you hike the Norwegian way, using poles and all. It makes sense to me, it seems the poles help with stability, and give you something to do with your arms. I went to REI today to try and find some pool shoes for my sibling, and every clerk there was busy helping people plan hikes. One clerk in particular sounded quite knowledgable about the various hiking trails. I felt out of place, and not only that, they didn't have the pool shoes I was looking for.
I'm not sure I could pack enough water to keep me hydrated -- I drink a minimum of 60 oz while I'm in the car running errands (could be because I don't use the air conditioning), and I drink 20 oz at the rec center. If I went hiking, I think I'd have to pack a keg! (water, that is!)
Lovely photos!
Kix
