The doors to the gym are wide open - come on in, the water's fine!  (I'm not sure when Lori will be back, so I thought I'd get things started today.) On Tuesday, I'll head to the gym at lunch for 60 minutes of cardio.  Am planning for 40 minutes on the elliptical trainer, 15 minutes on the stairmaster, then 10 minutes of cooldown on the bike.  All contingent on being able to get machines (my gym is pretty busy at lunch time).   What are you doing to move your body today? I did 20 minutes on the exercise bike this morning and I hope to do a yoga tape this evening.  We saw Shark vs. Eagle last night - not bad, but should have gone for Sicko instead.  We just weren't sure how long Shark vs. Eagle would stay in the theaters.

I saw the previews for Shark v. Eagle when we went to see Sicko, and I have to say that the premise sort of left me scratching my head.  Was it worth seeing?  Kix

It was ok, if you like off-beat films.  I wanted to see it because the lead actor, Jermaine Clement, is one of the members of my favorite comedic duo - Flight of the Conchords.  I enjoy a lot of independent films but it almost seemed like they were trying too hard to be quirky and "indy."  It came out of the Sundance system and if you liked Little Miss Sunshine (which I did) you'd probably like it.  If you liked Napoleon Dynamite (which I didn't) you'd definitely like it.  I'd rent it or go to a cheap matinee though, just in case.   I read mixed reviews, but one things for sure, the lead actress did a great job and I hope to see her again - she's not classically pretty and the New Zealand accent is heavy so I don't know how marketable she will be (unfortunately), but she's great and she also co-wrote the script.

Kellie, Thanks for opening the gym!  I am back today, but, I've been in meetings non-stop since I got here.  I did go to the gym this morning and did a 45 minutes walk on the track, then 15 mins of serious stretching as I'm very stiff and sore from my weekend at the festival.  I had a great time, but, I ended up walking around 6.5 miles a day, up and down hills and boy do my calves and gluts feel it...ow! Welcome back, Lori!  Sounds like you had a busy weekend and your calves & gluts are paying for it today!  Keep up the stretching - that'll help things feel better faster.   Kellie

I left the house bright and early this morning and did 30 minutes on the in-line skating machine, plus 20 minutes of weight machines (20 reps @ 30 lbs).  I had planned to do armbike as well, but the armbikes were popular today. I did some walking at Walmart, where I commenced to clean them out of their Hawaiian Punch Sugar Free to go packets.  Each box only costs $1.00, which is a bargain the way I drink that stuff. It was blissfully empty at Wally's at 10 AM, so I will make a note to go there only in the AM. I went to the library and picked up my books, then drove to Costco, then came home, where I need to do some laundry and vacuuming (this means climbing up and down the stairs several times). I also got a good facial workout chewing on one of my bites of liver for about ten minutes until it dawned on me that the piece was too chewy and perhaps I'd be better off spitting it out?!  Oy! I don't enjoy eating liver as much as a post-op, probably because I don't cook it in a stick of butter and throw an entire yellow onion in the pan. Kix

Hi, Kix!  I'm interested in the in-line skating machine - my gym doesn't have one.  What is it?  Who makes it?  I'm curious!!! Do you eat liver a lot?  I've never been able to eat it - something about the texture just isn't right to me.  But I know it's really good for you, esp. for iron.  Just can't get past the texture though... The in-line skating machine almost looks like an elliptical or a stair climber, but the foot pedals are on a diagonal instead of straight.  You get on it and just start gliding as if you were ice skating or roller skating.  It's a lot of fun!  You work different sets of muscles depending on your posture.  I always feel a bit self-conscious when I'm bent over it like some ho in a porn film, especially since the armbikes are behind the skating machine and I wonder if those pervy old guys are looking at my ass while I'm exercising.  I used to love liver.  My mother had an excellent way of preparing liver, so it was always quite succulent and tasty.  I was always glad when liver was served.  Post-op, though, I can't prepare it the way my mother used to because it's too rich and caloric, and my tastes may have changed, so even though I still eat it, it's no longer a favorite food.  I just season it and brown it on a no-stick griddle. I know what you mean about food texture.  I feel that way about some sushi at the sushi bar.  I will not eat raw octopus, it feels like you're chewing on an old tennis shoe. Kix

I've never tried liver or octopus, not very adventuresome.  I'm not crazy about seafood and actually hope that changes after surgery because it always looks so good.  Its just that my mouth never seems to agree with my eyes.  When I taught biology I had to feed liver to our flatworms once a month and I can't say it ever seemed appetizing to try myself.  Its a super-food for nutrients, so I should probably at least give it a try sometime.
