I feel like I am falling apart here. For 3 days I have had a horrible time with my sciatic nerve in my leg it is killing me. I must of pulled it at Curves. Went to a chiropractor yesterday and did not get much relief. Saw my Doctor was going to have a cortisone shot but she could not give me one because I am diabetic.

She did give me some muscle relaxers and pain meds and said to keep moving ,easier said than done. I told her I have to be able to walk after surgery and she assured me I would be ready On a bright side I have lost 8lbs since I saw her two weeks ago. My sugar is well controlled and I gave her a copy of my levels and isulin unites I have been very good about recording. So it looks like I am down 16lbs since March. This gives me hope that I will be sucssesful with wls. When I set my mind to something I try to stick with it.                                                            Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

Sorry to hear you are in pain Annie.  I am curious why they couldn't give you cortisone shots due to diabetes???  I am a nurse and the lady I take care of is brittle diabetic and she gets cortisone shots in both shoulders and both knees every 3-4 months.  Yes, her sugar readings are higher for a day or so, but thats it.  Anyway, whenever your surgery is, good luck and congrats on the 8 lbs.  Jeanine

Hi Annie, Sorry you are in pain. Maybe this is just a way you can be reassured about your upcoming surgery. After you loose more you will be better. I weighed 460 lbs last summer and could do NOTHING basically. I had WLS surgery 9/26/06 and I am 323 now and what a difference. I have severe arthritis and had 2 knee replacements before surgery, and severe arthrtis in my back. I bascially had to use a wheel chair. NOW I can walk and am in less pAIN. I have done things this summer I have not been able to do for years !! I am 60 years old a l ot older than you ! You will be so much better after the surgery !! Pam
