Gym is Open (Friday)!
Good morning! I'm on my way to the rec center (running a bit late this morning due to a power outage in my area), so I thought I'd open the gym for those of you who have already started your day with a vigorous round of activity.
I'll post my activity later.
What did you do to move your body today?

30 modified sit ups and 20 minutes dancing around the house.
Ah, Dunny, you are following Marge's fine example of how to have fun exercising!
What kind of music are you listening to while you dance?
I don't dance, despite my mother's best efforts and all those years learning social dance. I have two left feet and have to fight the urge to lead! Even with disco dancing, I end up looking like Elaine Bennis at her office party.

KIx- I listened to some swing on one of the cable music channels yesterday, and last time it was peter gabriel. I used to dance a lot, go out dancing, take ballroom classes in college, ballet and jazz when I was a kid, just dance around the house when I was alone, but I stopped about 7 years ago, not sure why. I think it was depression, and I kept telling myself I need to get back to doing it but suddenly I felt stupid. Now I still feel stupid but in a good way. My husband likes to dance with me at home but he won't in public, he just kind of bounces in place :) He wants to take swing lessons when I am smaller though, I used to practice swing at home with him when I was taking ballroom classes. I think him taking lessons is just an amazing suggestion that I NEVER thought I'd hear. Its sweet because I know he really doesn't want to, at least I don't think so. Its more for me.
Elanie Benis at least really enjoyed herself! Take care, JN
OK, I went to the rec center, and someone was on the in-line skating machine! Of all the nerve! It should be available to me at all times.
I did 20 minutes of armbike, and then the in-line skating machine became available, so I did 30 minutes. I really wasn't in the mood, and had to force myself to do the full 30 minutes.
I also did weight machines today (30 lbs @ 10 reps). I was working on one of the arm machines, waiting for the knee machine to become available. It was being used by a dude who looked like Santa but had flamingo legs. He struck up a conversation about different kinds of exercise, and then asked if I felt self-conscious in a bathing suit.
I never have, even at my fattest, so I told him I didn't have problems wearing a bathing suit in public. He went on and on about how aquacise is the best exercise for "people our age." WTF? He looked at least 20 years older than me! Then, he said, "Of course, for people our size, you have to worry about harpoons in the pool." WTF x 2?! I'd about had it by then, so I told him no one would harpoon me because I've lost 300 lbs. He was really impressed, and said, "You're right, no harpoon for you!" Oy!
