Great Diana!  Make sure you are drinking tons of water if you are going to sauna!

Hi Lori,   I'm 5 weeks out today and decided since I joined a mini challenge I really should move more than normal.  I tries an exercise video on walking.  I was able to do 3 minutes before the knees went weak.  Will try more tomorrow.  I know I need to build up my strength and stamina if I want to get back in the classroom next month. Beth, That is the way to do it.  Little by little.  The key is to consistently do it every day.  Results will come, slowly but surely! Lori

I needed a new attitude today too, and since my class was canceled today I decided to head to the mountains. I did 5 miles at a new park and boy was it a climb! I figure I climbed about 1800 feet but it was worth it, some of the best views I have seen yet. Going down was tough though - I forgot my  trekking poles and my legs were feeling it! It did help with my attitude though After that I took a drive in the mountains and found an absolutely gorgeous area that had tons of hikes - I walked around for about a mile to check it out and it is officially on my list of hikes I want to try. I'm glad I did something today - I knew that if I just sat around doing nothing again I would be even more depressed than I was. It was a good plan that worked!

Sounds great PJ.  I now have trekking poles too.  I haven't used them on an actual hike with elevation.  I will take them with me this weekend up to Snowbird. Lori

I walked for 60 minutes around the school yesterday - in total.  Every hour or so I got up and took a ten minute walk to move around.  If you count the walks to and from the parking lot, I walked an hour and a half at least.  Parking here is a MESS!  They keep getting rid of spaces for construction & now are accepting so many students it averages 5 students per available parking space.  BAD PLANNING!

They say that you don't have to do your exercise all at one time to get a benefit from it.  I tend to do a workout in the morning, then add little 5 to 10 min walks all day. The parking lot walks will become a joy to you once you've had your surgery and lost enough to make it easy.  Then, I recommend a pedometer so you are always looking for ways to get more steps in.  Works for me! Between waiting for the electrician and the humidity, my exercise plan for the day was hot.  I did get in my early AM power walk and then did some strength training (30 minutes) at home since I missed my body sculpt class.
