It's not a happy Monday for me at all.  I don't know what happened, but I managed to actually gain two lbs this week!    I thought exercise was supposed to help with weight loss, and yet I don't seem to be losing weight as well now that I exercise every day. Beginning weight: 530 lb Surgery weight: 407 lbs Last week: 238 lbs This week: 240 lbs   Kix

Kix, I know I am new and have not had the surgery yet. But as all of us I have dieted a whole lot once losing up to 160 pounds and I will tell you I worked out like a champ and weeks would go by with no loss and sometimes with a gain. start taking measurments to because really the scale numbers are just numbers what matters is muscle and soon you will be dropping numbers again more muscle means higher matabolism so this is just a phase you are an inspiration to us all.

Thanks for the pep talk, Diana!  I always forget that I could very well be losing inches, and now that you mention it, my portable oxygen carrier belt is a bit looser than it used to be. Living over by Edwards, does your house shake when the shuttle lands there? Kix

This was a tough week - I was at my folks all week. My dad was moved to a care facility that has a horrible cafeteria and it was tough to find anything to eat. I also didn't get to work out much, just spent my time either sitting with my dad or painting their house. So I'm kind of surprised I lost - of course, it could partly be stress. I sat in my house the entire day yesterday and did absolutely nothing - I was just so blah. I had actually gotten up, dressed in my workout clothes and then never left my couch. I also had a friend die this week, so that just added to my blahness. Boy, am I ready for this year to be over - the past few months have been tough. Surgery weight: 371 Last week's weight: 198 this week's weight: 195 3 more pounds and a total of 176 pounds. It still seems somewhat surreal.

We were down in the Springs on Friday killing ourselves walking around the zoo and the Will Rogers Shrine.  We should have stopped by and helped you paint, or at least brought you a WLS-friendly snack. I'm sorry you had such a hard week.  It sounds like you needed that day on the couch, badly. Kix

Thanks sweetie, I appreciate it. It didn't help that yesterday was also my period and I was just feeling sorry for myself - I nice little pity party! I'm done with that and ready to deal with daily life again Or, at least try to! I LOVE the zoo in the Springs, but it has lots of hills! I'm impressed you walked around the place, it can kill people in good shape. Did you go to the very top where the old carousel is? It has an amazing view. Next time I paint I'll call you and you can drop by that snack - and maybe pick up a paint brush!

Well, we went to the zoo with the expectation that we'd be able to ride the tram and just get off and walk for short bits.  God has a great sense of humor, though, and decided we needed extra exercise, so when we got to the zoo, we found out the tram wasn't running.    We really wanted to see the zoo, though, and the woman at the ticket window said if we needed assistance getting around, just find someone with a walkie talkie to help us. We made it about halfway up when my sibling's knees couldn't take any more uphill walking.  She was all embarrassed.  Not me, though, I figure it's no shame to ask for help when you need it, so I flagged down a nice man driving a big golf cart and he kindly drove us up to the top of the zoo.  We then zig zagged out way down, which was harder on my knees than walking uphill.  I had to stop at the end of each segment and rest my knees.  We did it, though, and I felt a real sense of accomplishment. I loved the Will Rogers Shrine.  The views were spectacular!  I had mixed feelings about the zoo. I loved the scenery, but it looked to me like the animals were kind of sad and needed more enrichment.  The giraffe area was great fun, and I enjoyed feeding the giraffes (even if the one I picked to feed had an attitude).  I read online that the zoo is working hard on improvements, though, so I'm up for another visit down the road. The carousel was very nice.  I thought about riding on it, but there were no brass rings to grab, so I decided I'd save my $2.00 and buy a lotto ticket instead. This was our first visit to the Springs, and we were impressed at how pretty it is.  We were not impressed that CDOT elected to close off a bunch of lanes on I-25 S right near the downtown area, though.  My sibling took a picture of me feeding a giraffe -- I should put it on my profile.
