Thank you all so much each and everyone of you *****sponded to this post. At least I know I am not the only one who has had people interject thier personal feelings about ths surgery. Lets face most of the one's who have something to say negative have no idea what it is to be SMO. Once they spend a day in my shoes then maybe they will think different. I know I need to have this surgery for a heathier future. Lee told me last night I had 27 days and counting I told him dont even tell me. I am out of my funk, sugar is doing soo much better and just by working out at curves has lifted my spirits. I will be pumped up by the time surgery day gets here and will know I should be in pretty good condition to go through it. You all mean so much to me. As the day gets closer I might totally freak out but that is why we have a board like this where I can share my thoughts and feelings and always have someone close by to listen.                                                       Annie

Hey Annie,      I went with my sister to her weight-loss doctor visit.  This doc opts to giving out drugs to curb hunger and boost metabolizm.  My sis is SMO and has been completely supportive of me..she doesn't want to do wls..my surgery drama kinda freaked her out.  Anyways, she asked her doctor what he thought about gastric bypass.  This guy went on a rant that you just wouldn't believe.  He began saying that wls was for folks with totally no will-power and for people who were just lazy.  It was all I could do to not get up out of my chair and choke that dude!  This doc obviously never had a weight issue in his life.  He also depended on overweight and despirate people... so he could make a nice living as he continues to dispense his drugs to all.  Drugs are OK but wls is dangerous right???     Annie I am just thrilled that you got your date and that you are well on your way.  I'm sorry I haven't sent my congrads earlier..my computer was down cause we had to disconnect the ole puter cause we got new tile in the office..well needed after 18 years of living here.  Feel free to vent here, we all have been there---done that. Hugs, Ginger

You know, I think this is part of why I like my Nut so much...  As a teen (he's late 20s), he had severe issues with weight.  Then, while studying to be a Nut/dietician, he learned why.  And, now he is a healthy (dare I say sexy? LOL) young man with his whole life ahead of him to continue to make the right choices regarding food and exercise and keep his health.  He HAS walked the walk.  So, now when he talks the talk, I take it all to heart.  He learned the hard way, but he learned SO much earlier than I did!  He is somewhat of an exercise fanatic now, but he is open and earnest about his own food choices.  He attends our WLS support group meetings and says that he likes being accountable to us for his own diet/exercise/weight.  I don't think I would have the same level of respect for a Nut who had always been thin and healthy and just chose this as their career....  Know what I mean? As for well-intentioned people....  How do we get people to find other ways to love us besides feeding us??????  LOL Best wishes as you get ready for your surgery next month!  I have my 1 year surgiversary in August! Hugs, Lea

Lea, I agree with you totally.  The nutritionist I work with is skinny and has been, but, she has caught on after working with WLS patients for 2 years.  She now sees the light in a new way.  So, I guess they can be trained. Lori
