Lori is busy walking her 5K, and I'm online now, so I figured I'd go ahead and open up the gym.  I'm eager to hear how the 5K went, particularly since Lori has had sore feet lately. I went to the rec center, and was surprised it was so crowded!  I guess everyone who usually goes at night went this morning due to the holiday.  I had to wait 15 minutes to get the in-line skating machine (I tried not to be rude, but the woman using it had been on it for 1 1/2 hrs already, so I felt like standing next to it and tapping my foot in an impatient manner). I did 15 minutes of armbike, 25 minutes of in-line skating machine, and a circuit of weight machines (20 reps @ 10 lbs).  What did you do to move your body today? Kix

I rode the recumbent bike for 30 minutes and walked for a mile or so.

Dunny, I'm impressed you can do the recumbent bike -- I tried it recently and on both the stationary and recumbent bikes, my knees yelped at being bent so tightly.  Good thing the in-line skating machine doesn't require me to bend my knees quite so much! Congrats on walking a mile, too.  I haven't tried that yet.  I need to find a place where I can walk a mile yet have a place to stop and sit if my knees start yelping. Kix

Thank you Kix.  Actually the recumbent bike works really well for me, but I don't have any knee problems (yet?) and I am really short so I probably don't have to bend them quite as far as someone taller would.  The only thing I worry about is that my bike's weight limit is 350 so one of these days its just gonna collapse or something.  I will feel a lot safer once I am under 350!

I walked for 30 minutes in the am through the neighborhood before work and had a tennis lesson after work in the heat (what the heck was I thinking???) I've never picked up a raquet before but always wanted to play.  We just vollied back and forth and I jumped/ran alot.  My legs feel it today. I can't believe I was able to do this.

Wow, playing tennis in that North Carolina heat!  I feel faint just thinking about it. Even volleying back and forth in tennis is great exercise.  You don't have to play like Serena Williams to get benefit from tennis.  I took tennis in college, and the teacher used to tell me to quit hitting the ball as if it was wearing a diaper.  I hated that teacher.  Do you have any knee problems when you walk? Kix, Thanks for opening the gym!  Yes, I did my 5k yesterday.  My foot was so sore when I started out, but, as I got going, it started getting kinda numb, so I finished with no problems.  Didn't feel like I worked out enough and decided to walk home, so I got in over 6 miles.  When I got home, I got in the bathtub and soaked my aching body.  About an hour later, the numbness wore off my foot and it  started killing me!!!!  I then sat on the couch for over an hour icing it and doing crossword puzzles.  My cardio fitness is so good, why can't my body keep up with me????? I really had fun though.  Glad I did it! Lori
