Gym Is Open (Monday)
I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the bike, then my typical stretching. It felt good after this weekend of just sitting, I had a lot of pent up energy.
Also, I think I have figured out why i am getting bored with my workouts - about a month ago my radio broke that I use to work out in the gym. I feel like it takes FOREVER to work out now, whereas before when I was able to listen to music it was faster. So, today I decided to splurge and buy an MP3 player - I've wanted one for a while and I figured what the heck, might as well. I'm hoping this helps!
My original plan was to go to the Denver Botanic Garden (today was free admission day) and do some walking while admiring the foliage and other assorted greenery. However, evenyone in the Intermountain West had the same idea -- I arrived at 11 AM and the place was packed. Not a parking spot to be had (and I have disabled parking), and there were six school buses parked out front. School buses! Isn't school out yet?!
I wasn't about to compete with the thundering herds of adults and free-range children, so I went home, picked up the dogs, and took them to Clear Creek Park in Golden, which is not too far from my house. We walked a block each way along the creek. There's a nice path with plenty of places to stop and sit if you need to do so. The water is pretty fast, too -- we saw several kayakers today.
My sibling came home from work and didn't want to go to the rec center, but I was able to talk her into going for a walk at another nearby park. We walked about 1/4 mile each way (I think it was less, but she thought we went 1/4 of the way around the lake, which is a mile for a complete lap). The dogs seemed to enjoy it, although the doxie got a bit excited when another walker decided to introduce his dog!
So, lots of walking today. My knees felt it by the end of the day. I'll be glad when I can do at least a mile around the lake.
